Sad detail emerges about mother Natalie Galcsik’s family life after her husband was charged with running her down and murdering her in Pokolbin

A woman who was allegedly mowed down and killed by her husband leaves behind five children. Her eldest son, 20, talks about how he will have to raise his four younger siblings.

Steven Galcsik, 47, allegedly ran over his wife Natalie, 46, with a car at their home in Pokolbin in the Hunter Valley region of NSW just after 6pm on Friday.

The alleged incident took place at a property where the couple run a luxury accommodation business.

A family member called emergency services, but despite their efforts, Ms. Galcsik died at the scene.

Detectives are reportedly investigating how many times Mrs. Galcsik was allegedly beaten while her husband was taken into custody on domestic violence murder charges.

On Monday, Ms Galcsik’s 20-year-old son Alex revealed he had been left alone to support his siblings as he launched a campaign. GoFundMe to help with the financial costs.

“My mother dedicated her life to raising myself and my siblings with selflessness and love, despite difficult circumstances,” he wrote.

Meanwhile, online tributes have been pouring in for the mother, with one friend saying she was left ‘speechless’ by the news of her death.

“Anyone who knew Natalie and her wonderful children would know how kind and selfless she was,” the friend wrote online.

“My heart breaks for these five children.”

It is not the first tragedy to befall the family. Mrs Galcsik’s sudden death comes just 14 months after the couple’s seven-year-old son was killed in a drowning in a dam near the property.

The child was recovered unconscious from a dam in Pokolbin on August 18, 2023.

The Galcsiks owned Unlax @ Hunter Valley, a boutique four-star bed and breakfast with self-contained cottages for rent in the heart of the state’s wine country.

Rooms at the rustic property start at $398 per night, with guests getting ‘360 degree views of the natural bushland and native wildlife’.

They owned the business for seven years after purchasing the 40-acre property for $1.45 million in 2017.

Detectives are investigating whether the Galcsiks – who had no record of domestic violence – were struggling with marital problems in the lead-up to her death.

Police are also investigating whether family members witnessed the alleged incident. Obviously, Alex Galcsik made the triple 0 call.

An AVO application has been filed between Galcsik and his adult son, who will appear at Cessnock Local Court next month.

According to online reports, Ms. Galcsik was a horse enthusiast who was a member of the region’s equestrian community.

She also loved dogs and was interested in spirituality and holistic wellness practices, such as Reiki.

The property has been declared a crime scene and Daily Mail Australia understands accommodation services have been suspended until further notice.

Galcsik is due to appear again at Newcastle Local Court on November 27.
