Natalie Barr and Matt Shirvington respond to ‘absolutely disgusting’ video of Sean Combs assaulting ex Cassie in hotel

Sunrise co-hosts Matt Shirvington and Natalie Barr have condemned newly surfaced surveillance footage of rapper Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs assaulting his ex-girlfriend Cassie Ventura.

The shocking video, obtained by CNNshows the rapper, 54, violently attacking the singer, 37, at a Los Angeles hotel in 2016.

Shirvington, 45, and Barr, 56, couldn’t hide their horror as they spoke to entertainment reporter Dean McCarthy about the footage and Diddy’s subsequent apology video.

‘In his video he claims he is disgusted. Well, he’s right about that. He’s not alone. We are all disgusting. Everyone in Hollywood is disgusted by this,” McCarthy said.

“And interestingly enough, even though he’s a Hollywood hotshot — I mean, he’s a mogul — not one person in Hollywood, not one person in music today has shown his support,” he added.

McCarthy noted that while Diddy’s attorney previously called Cassie’s claims that she was assaulted by the rapper a “cash grab,” the newly surfaced video “makes it painfully clear that this is actually what happened at that hotel.”

“Yeah, it’s just disgusting, isn’t it?” Shirvington said, shaking his head.

“And…I can’t say anything,” he added, stopping himself from further eviscerating Diddy.

“Yes,” Natalie agreed.

The video shows the rapper shirtless, with a towel wrapped around his waist, as he chases Cassie down the hallway of the InterContinental Hotel in Century City.

When she tried to get into an elevator, he grabbed her by the back of the head and knocked her to the ground.

He then kicked her as she lay motionless on the ground, before grabbing the two designer bags she had tried to escape with.

Diddy stood over her, kicked her again and then dragged her by the hoodie back to their room.

Cassie claimed in a now-settled lawsuit that Diddy paid the same hotel $50,000 for the footage after the attack.

On Sunday, Diddy broke his silence about the shocking video and took to Instagram with a video saying as much: ‘I’ve hit rock bottom, but I’m not making excuses.’

‘So hard to think about the darkest times in your life, sometimes you have to do that. I was devastated,” he said in the selfie-style video.

“I mean I’ve hit rock bottom, but I’m not making excuses, my behavior in that video is inexcusable. I take full responsibility for my actions in that video, I am disgusted by it.”

‘I was disgusted when I did it then, and I’m still disgusted by it now. I went and sought professional help, I went to therapy, I went to rehab.”

“I had to ask God for his mercy and grace. I’m very sorry. But I am determined to be a better man every day. I’m not asking for forgiveness, I’m truly sorry.”

Sources said Diddy went to rehab after the 2016 incident and continues to seek both therapy and spiritual work.

Diddy’s followers weren’t convinced by his apology and flooded the comments under his video with angry messages.

One said: ‘You swore you did nothing wrong. You failed her and all of us, and ONLY now that the video came out do you regret it. Bro, go away.”

Another added: “If you were truly sorry then and now, why did you lie all the time? Your chance at redemption was long overdue, Diddler. It’s over now.’

Cassie’s attorney Meredith Firetog said Sunday, “Combs’ most recent statement is more about himself than the many people he has hurt.”

“When Cassie and several other women came forward, he denied everything and suggested his victims were looking for a payday.”

“That he only had to ‘apologize’ when his repeated denials were proven to be false shows his pathetic desperation, and no one will be swayed by his disingenuous words.”

It comes after the LA County district attorney said they would not be able to prosecute Diddy for the attack as the statute of limitations had expired.

California’s statute of limitations for simple assault is one year, although aggravated assault lasts three years. Based on the timeline, neither charge could be leveled against Diddy.
