  • The incident appears to have taken place in Nashville, Tennessee
  • Nashville police say the man with the taser does not appear to be a cop

A TikTok video showing a man being tasered on the street by a Nashville security guard has gone viral.

The video posted by TikTok user Justin Grigsby on Tuesday has already been viewed more than 8 million times.

The video, captioned “if you play at the wrong club,” shows a bearded man dancing in front of the camera, wearing a polo shirt, shorts and flip flops.

‘I’m a white boy! White trash motherfucker!’ says the man, before being promptly tasered by a uniformed man standing behind him.

A spokeswoman for the Metro Nashville Police Department told DailyMail.com, “We are not familiar with this video and after reviewing it, the person does not appear to be an MNPD officer.”

Instead, the man wielding the taser appears to be an armed private security guard, as often employed in Nashville clubs.

Such guards sometimes wear official-looking shirts and badges, even though they are not sworn police officers.

Grigsby, the TikTok user who posted the video, did not immediately respond to requests for comment.

The full context of the events surrounding the video remained unclear.

However, many comments on the video claimed that the guard’s use of force seemed unwarranted.

“Security guy just quit his job for this?” wrote one.

“Bro, that’s a lawsuit,” another commented.
