American motorsports giant NASCAR has officially arrived in the Fortnite ecosystem with the release of a new Rocket Racing course inspired by the annual, real-life Chicago Street Race.
Developed by British metaverse marketing company Karta, the track allows players to race against their existing opponents. Fortnite Take on other vehicles in online multiplayer or go solo in intense time trials.
The course features multiple routes and various obstacles to overcome, all set against the backdrop of the streets of Chicago. It’s quite a departure from the themes of most existing games Rocket Racing cards, which tend much more towards fantasy.
The Chicago Street Race isn’t the only event coming to the Fortnite ecosystem as NASCAR strives to secure a permanent place in the Rocket Racing through the addition of new tracks, events and venues. Nick Rend, NASCAR’s managing director of resorts and gaming, described how “NASCAR has always been about pushing boundaries and connecting with fans in exciting ways.”
“Fortnite provides the perfect platform to engage a global audience,” he continued, “combining the intensity of NASCAR racing with the immersive world of Fortnite. Karta, with their incredible creativity, attention to detail and innovative approach, were the perfect partners to help us bring this vision to life. We wanted to build something with longevity for both die-hard NASCAR enthusiasts and the broader Fortnite community, and we believe we’ve succeeded in doing just that.”
On the NASCAR and Karta partnership, Karta CEO Erik Londré added that “working with a motorsports icon like NASCAR is a dream come true. Our goal was to capture the essence of NASCAR racing, the speed, the strategy, the adrenaline, and add a dose of Fortnite fun to it. The result is something truly special — a blazing-fast, visually stunning racing experience that we know players will love.”
