Famed Naples pizza chef Gino Sorbillo has stunned traditionalists by introducing pineapple toppings for the first time.
The fruity addition is both loved and hated by pizza eaters around the world and is considered by some to be an insult to traditional Italian cuisine.
In a video on social media, Mr Sorbillo – considered Naples' best pizza maker – showed off the dish that will now be available in his restaurants – and even filmed him taking a bite.
After trying the pizza, Mr. Sorbillo says, “It's tasty.”
He then encourages his customers to stay open, adding, “Guys, don't be silly; I'm bound by tradition, but I want to try.'

Mr. Sorbillo belongs to one of the oldest families of pizza chefs in Naples and is now considered the best pizza chef in Naples.
His grandparents, Luigi Sorbillo and Carolina Esposito, founded the first pizzeria in 1935 on Via dei Tribunali, a street in Naples that many defined as the 'Via della Pizza Napoletana' in the old center of the city.
Some of Mr. Sorbillo's restaurants bear his name, while others are named, such as Zia Esterina or Olio a Crudo.
The chef lives in Naples but travels from one city to another while keeping an eye on all his restaurants and also appearing on TV shows and at food events.
Meanwhile, the debate over whether pineapple on pizza is a good idea continues to this day, with people still debating the topic on social media.
Yesterday someone on X wrote: 'Pineapple on pizza is terrible.'
But another said: 'I'm actually starting to like pineapple on pizza, I'm so angry.'
A third wrote: 'Putting pineapple on pizza is like putting banana in spaghetti.'
