Naomi Campbell to be honoured with a fashion exhibition at the V&A with a selection of her iconic archival pieces to celebrate 40 years in the industry

Naomi Campbell has been honored with her own fashion exhibition at the Victoria and Albert Museum featuring a selection of her iconic archive pieces.

The supermodel, 53, is celebrating 40 years in the industry after first being scouted in Covent Garden when she was 15.

The V&A has dedicated its next exhibition, Naomi, to the supermodel, showcasing some of her extensive wardrobe and runway collections.

The museum’s latest upcoming exhibition will follow such as Gabrielle, Coco Chanel.

The exhibition will also feature fashion photography, curated by British editor-in-chief Edward Enninful.

Opening June 22, 2024 and running through April 6, 2025, Naomi’s will feature past and present pieces from designers who helped shape her early career.

Pieces from Chanel, Dolce & Gabbana, Alexander McQueen, Jean Paul Gaultier, Virgil Abloh and others will be included in the inhibition.

The first confirmed dress to appear in the show is the Valentino pink feather and lace gown that Naomi wore to the 2019 Met Gala.

Hailing from South London, Naomi found herself among the three most recognizable and sought-after models of the late 1980s.

Just before she turned 16, she was on the cover of British Elle, and in 1987 she became the first black girl on the cover of British Vogue since 1966.

The model surprised fans earlier this year by revealing she had joined forces with online fashion retailer PrettiLittleThing to create her Designed by Naomi Campbell collection.

And in the new two-parter, Naomi revealed that she doesn’t think the ‘younger generation’ even knows who she is.

Naomi could be seen donning a number of fashionable looks as she let the camera go behind the scenes and gave a glimpse into the creative process behind her collection.

She told the camera: ‘I can talk to a younger generation that I didn’t even think knew who I was.’

“When I think about fashion, fashion doesn’t discriminate.” I can’t wait to see all these lovely young women wearing my designs.’

She added: “I want young girls to take from this collection to be themselves, to feel confident in how they wear these clothes that I designed and interpret who they are in the clothes.” So they bring their own essence, style to the outfit.’

The stunner talks to the designers about several pieces in the fashion range, calling the black blazer dress a ‘classic’ while noting that the opulent crystal dress needs to be ‘longer’.

The clip also sees Naomi examining mood boards, visiting equipment and declaring what seems to be working and what isn’t as she puts on the coil before the photo shoot and of course her NIFV Sunday show debuting the 90-piece collection.
