Nantes wants to sign Arsenal winger Marquinhos on loan despite the Brazilian’s ineffective spell at Norwich in the Championship last season
- Arsenal bought Brazilian winger Marquinhos (20) from Sao Paulo last summer
- He was loaned out to Norwich City last season after struggling for playing time
- Ligue 1 side Nantes are keen to sign the starlet on loan for this season
Arsenal winger Marquinhos, 20, is wanted by French side Nantes.
The Brazil Under 20 international was loaned to Norwich last season.
However, he struggled to assert himself at Carrow Road, scoring just one goal and adding a lone assist in 11 Championship games.
Marquinhos initially impressed when he joined the Gunners from Sao Paulo last summer when he got minutes in the Europa League.
In fact, he scored and assisted on his debut during a 2-1 win over FC Zürich in the group stage.
Ligue 1 side Nantes are keen to loan Arsenal winger Marquinhos for a season
The Brazil Under-20 international spent the second half of last season on loan at Norwich
However, he was unable to kick through as he amassed just one minute of Premier League football before being loaned out for more regular time.
Nantes finished 16th in Ligue 1 last season, narrowly avoiding relegation by one point.
They scored just 37 goals in 38 league games and would therefore look to Marquinhos to be a bigger attacking threat for the side.
The Ligue 1 team is coached by Pierre Aristouy and has former Tottenham midfielder Moussa Sissoko in their ranks.
Arsenal play Manchester City in the Community Shield on Sunday before kicking off their Premier League campaign at home to Nottingham Forest on Saturday afternoon.
