Nancy Pelosi makes her decision on whether she will attend Donald Trump’s inauguration

Nancy Pelosi will not attend Donald Trump’s inauguration on Monday, a shocking move by the senior Democrat.

The 84-year-old, who is recovering from hip replacement surgery, attended Trump’s first swearing-in eight years ago and was expected to be in the audience.

But the former Speaker of the House of Representatives joins Michelle Obama among notable political figures who will not be in the Capitol when the 78-year-old takes the oath of office for the second time.

During her political career, she attended eleven inaugurations

Pelosi’s spokesperson first confirmed this ABC she wouldn’t skip the Jan. 20 event, but didn’t give a reason why.

After falling in Europe over Christmas, Pelosi has been seen walking around the Capitol with a walker.

She was also seen wearing flats, instead of the heels she favored, when she fell down a marble staircase in Luxembourg on December 13.

Pelosi is a staunch critic of Trump. One of the memorable images from his first administration was when she tore up his 2020 State of the Union address.

Her resentment of him grew after the Jan. 6 insurrection at the Capitol and when he mocked her husband Paul as he fell victim to a violent hammer attack.

On the 2024 campaign trail, Trump repeatedly targeted Pelosi at his rallies, calling her a “domestic enemy.”

At his closing event in Grand Rapids, Michigan, he called her “evil.”

“She’s a crooked person. She is a bad person, an evil person. She is evil, sick, crazy,” Trump said before appearing to say the word “b*tch.” ‘Oh no. It starts with a B, but I’m not saying that. I want to say it. “I want to say it,” he said.

In return, Pelosi called him a “domestic enemy” and also suggested that Trump was partly responsible for the violent attack on her husband in their San Francisco.

She said the Republican Party ‘targeted’ and ‘demonized’ her

“The sad thing about my husband’s situation is that he’s not very political,” Pelosi said. ‘They were after me. And I feel guilty that he paid the price.”

She campaigned to keep Trump out of the White House. In August, during a media tour for her book, she told reporters, “My goal in life was for that man to never step foot in the White House again.”
