Nancy Pelosi claims Trump looked like a ‘scared puppy’ during his D.C. court appearance – because he ‘knows he lost the election and now has to face the music’

  • Pelosi took another sneer at Trump after his hearing on Thursday
  • “He looked very, very, very concerned about fate,” she said

Former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi tried to tear apart former President Donald Trump’s image by saying her rival looked like a “scared puppy” on Thursday.

Pelosi, who repeatedly clashed with Donald Trump during his presidency, offered her take on video footage of Trump’s landmark four-count indictment related to his attempts to overthrow the election.

The California lawmaker, now called speaker emerita, ridiculed Trump hours after he pleaded not guilty after a look at special counsel Jack Smith at a federal courthouse.

“I wasn’t in court, of course. But when I saw him get out of his car and this or that, I saw a scared puppy,” she said, after Trump flew to Washington for his 27-minute hearing before a US magistrate, then addressed cameras and stormed the city where he served four years.

“He looked very, very, very concerned about fate,” Pelosi told interviewer Andrea Mitchell. “I didn’t see any bravura or self-confidence or anything like that. He knows he knows the truth, that he lost the election and now he has to face the music,” she said.

Trump issued his own comments on Thursday. He spoke of his “persecution” and called it a “sad day,” then ripped into the city where Pelosi lived and worked for decades while keeping her primary home in San Francisco.

And it was also very sad driving through Washington, D.C. and seeing the dirt and decay, and all the broken buildings and walls, and the graffiti. This is not the place I left. It’s very sad to see,” Trump said of his short drive past landmarks as he drove from Reagan National Airport to the courthouse.

Pelosi experienced several memorable moments during the Trump presidency. She was filmed by her daughter using her mouth to open a bag of beef jerky from a safe location during the attack on the Capitol on January 6.

She presided over two impeachment proceedings against Trump and famously tore up her copy of his speech after a belligerent State of the Union address. In 2017, Trump called her out for “Nervous Nancy’s unhinged meltdown!” following one angry meeting at the White House.

But her office thanked him for sending an image of her confrontation with the president.

In her MSNBC appearance, she called it a “very prayerful time.”

She also credited the House January 6 Committee, which she created after a dispute with then-minority leader Kevin McCarthy over its composition.

“I am very proud of the work of the January 6 Commission, which laid the groundwork, created a path for us to come to this place, to seek the truth.”
