Nancy Pelosi, 84, remains in German hospital after hip surgery following nasty fall
It is unclear when House Speaker Nancy Pelosi will return to the US as she recovers from hip replacement surgery following a nasty fall in Luxembourg.
Pelosi, 84, underwent a successful hip replacement after falling down a marble staircase during a European trip, her spokesman said this weekend.
She was in Luxembourg with a bipartisan congressional delegation marking the 80th anniversary of the Battle of the Bulge when she fell on Friday.
Notably, Pelosi was not flown back to the US after descending the steps of the Grand Duke’s Palace, but rather taken to the military hospital in Germany.
Her spokesman Ian Krager has since described Pelosi as “on the mend” following the procedure.
He said, “Speaker Pelosi is grateful to the U.S. Military Staff at Landstuhl Regional Medical Center and the medical staff at Kirchberg Hospital for their excellent care and kindness.
“Speaker Pelosi enjoys the overwhelming outpouring of prayers and well wishes and is committed to ensuring access to quality health care for all Americans.”
DailyMail.com reached out to Krager for more information on when the former speaker will return to Washington, DC
It was not immediately clear when she will be well enough to make the journey back abroad.
The rest of the traveling lawmakers have returned to DC for the last full week of legislation before the Christmas holidays.

Pelosi had to cancel the rest of her engagements during the congressional delegation’s trip.
She was seen in a photo just before the fall, holding the hand of Rep. Michael McCaul, R-Texas, on the grand marble stairs of the Grand Duke’s Palace.
Pelosi appeared shaky and weak, according to witnesses in the room during the meeting.
A source told DailyMail.com that she then fell down the marble stairs in front of all the lawmakers and dignitaries during the official visit.
Pelosi was heard again on a phone call with several lawmakers she had taken from the hospital, and she sounded normal and cheerful, another source told DailyMail.com.
The visit to Luxembourg, hosted by Speaker Mike Johnson, R-La., was announced to commemorate the deadly battle with a bipartisan group of nearly two dozen lawmakers.
Her incident comes days after outgoing Republican Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, 82, fell during a Senate lunch this week. He suffered a sprained wrist and an abrasion on his face.
Pelosi just successfully ran for re-election in California and has indicated she plans to run again in 2026.
And although she stepped down from an official Democratic leadership position in November 2022, she still has a lot of power.

Just last week, it was reported that Pelosi is working behind the scenes to crush Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez’s dream of taking a powerful Democratic House position in the new Congress.
The 35-year-old progressive Squad member is seeking to become the ranking member of the House Oversight Committee after serving as a deputy ranking member.
But she would have to defeat Virginia Congressman Gerry Connelly, who also launched his own bid for the Supreme Committee position.
Lawmakers from the congressional delegation to Luxembourg are meeting with foreign leaders and dignitaries to mark the 80th anniversary of the famous battle, one of the deadliest of World War II.
Earlier Thursday, the Luxembourg embassy posted a photo of the lawmakers to commemorate their trip.
“We welcome Bill Nelson and members of Congress to commemorate the 80th anniversary of the Battle of the Bulge in Luxembourg and Belgium,” the report on X said.
“The sacrifices of brave soldiers of World War II echo the past and remind us that every generation must continue the fight for freedom and democracy.”
Speaker Mike Johnson gave a preview of the trip and said it is an “honor” to celebrate the occasion.
