Former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi announced she will seek re-election in 2024, despite resigning from her leadership position last Congress.
“Now more than ever, our city needs us to advance San Francisco values and fuel our recovery,” Pelosi wrote on X, formerly known as Twitter, on Friday.
“Our country needs America to show the world that our flag is still here, with freedom and justice for ALL. That is why I am running for re-election – and I respectfully ask for your vote.”
Former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi has announced she will seek re-election in 2024, despite stepping down from her leadership position earlier this year.
Pelosi, the first-ever female speaker, was first elected in 1987 to represent the people of San Francisco, California.
It was unclear whether the former speaker would seek re-election after her husband Paul Pelosi was attacked in their California home last fall.
A man entered their home and said he was looking for Pelosi, then hit Paul in the head with a hammer. The incident was captured on police camera footage.
