A powerful Tory known as ‘Dr No’ had a rabbit cut up and nailed to its owner’s house in a mafia-style warning to an ex-girlfriend, according to an explosive new book.
The astonishing claim is part of a series of revelations in The Plot: The Political Assassination of Boris Johnson, by former minister Nadine Dorries.
The most anticipated political book of the year will be published exclusively in the Mail from tomorrow.
Ms Dorries last night accused the Government of a ‘desperate’ attempt to stop its publication, after Whitehall officials said her refusal to reveal its contents could lead to her being blacklisted from public jobs, including a peerage.
The Cabinet Office told her she needed to hand over a pre-publication copy so they could examine all the confidential material – but she refused to do so.

‘The Plot: The Political Assassination of Boris Johnson’ by Nadine Dorries is the most explosive political book of the year and is published in the Mail
Ms Dorries dramatically sets out how a sinister cabal of influential fixers, advisers and ministers may have been responsible for Mr Johnson’s ouster.
It claims that the same shadowy figures have secretly controlled the party for more than two decades.
At the center of the clique, according to the book, is a man whom Mrs. Dorries refers to only by the name of the James Bond villain Dr. No. Ms Dorries writes: ‘He is paid by Central Office, has a Number 10 pass and, Some say, Rishi Sunak doesn’t do anything without asking his advice first. And yet people can work in Number 10 for years and never hear his name mentioned.”

Dr. No has served at the top of the Conservative Party since the 1990s, with full access to Downing Street, and has worked in the shadows of every government including David Cameron, Theresa May, Boris Johnson and Rishi Sunak.
Mrs. Dorries says, “Dr. No was once in custody for alleged arson. When a friend ended their relationship, rumor has it that he had her brother’s rabbit cut into quarters and nailed to the front door of the family home to greet him when he came home from school, in true mafia style.”
The Mail spoke to the brother in question, who confirmed that ‘something’ happened to his rabbit when he was a child, around the time his sister split with Dr No. He said, ‘I certainly had a rabbit, and now I don’t.’
Asked if his parents had said anything about what happened to the pet, he said: ‘They don’t want to talk about the rabbit, they have kept the same line. The fact that I had a rabbit, and then not a rabbit, that is normal for pets.’
Ms Dorries, Culture Secretary under Boris Johnson, resigned as MP for Mid Bedfordshire earlier this year, triggering a by-election that resulted in Labor overturning its largest Tory majority since 1945.
Ms Dorries (pictured in January 2022) said that Dr. No has worked in the shadows of every government including David Cameron, Theresa May, Boris Johnson and Rishi Sunak
She was highly critical of Rishi Sunak’s leadership, accusing him of abandoning ‘the fundamental principles of conservatism’. She is equally fearless in her book – suggesting that the Prime Minister was at the behest of Dr. No and his network in Number 10 were installed after dethroning Mr Johnson.
She writes: ‘Every time a new party chairman or a treasurer came by and looked at the books in the Central Office, they asked, ‘Who are these people to whom we pay an extraordinary amount of money as employees of CCHQ (Conservative Campaign Headquarters)? Who is this, Doctor No? He never comes in and why has no one ever met him? I’ve never met him. Has anyone ever met him?’
Ms Dorries said: ‘For a man with a mysterious past, he seems to be struggling to stay away from the authorities. Dr. No also likes violence. If there is ever a demonstration in Downing Street and he is there, he slips out the back door into the street and seeks out the violent clashes. He doesn’t participate, he just cruises around and watches.
‘It’s really quite remarkable that in the last forty years only a handful of people who were in Number 10 could point you to him. If an employee ever asked, “Who is that man?” as he shuffled by, there would be no answer.
‘Someone who had the misfortune to meet him said to me: ‘He’s just a very bad man with an evil mind, and in politics every prime minister needs a man like him at his side.’
She provides more details about the alleged arson, writing, “Dr. No allegedly tried to set fire to a house while people were sleeping in their beds. There was a whole family in the house at the time, including a child.’
Ms Dorries, a columnist for the Mail, also claims that Dr. No uses ‘dirty files’ as ‘one of his favorite methods’.
She quotes a source who says that Dr. No has deployed the tactic against former Tory Prime Minister Liz Truss, consisting of ‘mainly sexual, disgusting and untrue, seriously fabricated nasty things’ shown to Mr Sunak.
“To his credit, Rishi told him not to use it because it would have a bad effect on him. But Dr. No ignored him because Rishi was not in charge, she was,” she wrote. ‘When the dossier was deemed so abhorrent that the press did not use it, a text message was sent to a journalist saying that ‘we are keeping this ammunition for use at a later date’.
He meant after she won the leadership election. She had only been working for a week, and then another sordid file was released about her husband, Hugh, a nice man.
“This is what Doctor No does. He undermines and destabilizes people. Even if the files aren’t used, he wants the victim to know they’re out there and someone might print something and upset their children.
Ms Dorries suggests in her book that the Prime Minister was installed in Number 10 at the behest of Dr. No and his network after they dethroned Mr Johnson.
Ms Dorries, who was Culture Secretary under Boris Johnson, resigned as MP for Mid Bedfordshire in an exclusive interview with the Mail earlier this year (pictured), triggering a by-election that gave Labor the largest Tory majority since 1945 nullified.
‘And even if they know it’s not true, that worry keeps them awake at night and penetrates deep into their psyche.
‘Dr. No fired a missile deep into the heart of her family and it confused her because, as fictional as it was, she knew it was out there.”
Ms. Dorries also quotes a party veteran, who claims that Dr. No has ‘covered up’ a wealthy party donor who was in a dispute with him over money, saying he had ‘taken the donor’s gold American Express card’ and ‘traveled in helicopters’. , pretended he was setting up a think tank, destroyed his house and spent the money’.
She added: ‘He was nothing more than a small-time thug and now he is at number 10 advising the Prime Minister.’
