Mystery billionaire businessman offers lucky influencer couple £160,000 a year to live on his private Caribbean island and post about it online
A billionaire businessman is offering a lucky couple £160,000 a year to live off his private Caribbean island and ‘maintain’ it as a full-time job.
The dreamy job posting calls for a pair to oversee one of the British Virgin Islands and spearhead its transformation from a building site to a luxury paradise.
The full-time influencers were due to fly to the secret island in January and share their experiences of living in a ‘millionaire’s playground’ via social media.
The online advertisement explains that applicants must submit a TikTok video to be reviewed by the owner’s media team.
Both the island and the name of the new owner are being kept secret until the sale is announced, but the islands of Richard Branson and Google co-founder Larry Page are nearby.
The perfect candidates must be ‘highly experienced’ in luxury hospitality. They will also be tasked with managing the country’s facilities and events when the project is completed, so that investors and guests can arrive before the end of 2024.

George Ralph Dunn of recruitment agency Fairfax and Kensington is aiming to attract candidates outside his company’s network, saying luxury workers typically lack influencer skills.
He claims the £160,000 job gives the couple the chance to ‘make the island their own’ and joked that he would apply if he wasn’t tasked with finding the ideal candidates.
“This is the ultimate influencer role,” George said. “They would have to pick up their whole lives and move, but it’s a cool role to pick up your life for.
‘On the surrounding islands you have Richard Branson and Larry Page, so that area is often a playground for billionaires.
‘The owner wants to emphasize the beauty of the place and that is a big part of this role. They should capture it and then put their own stamp on how everything looks and works.
“He is very keen to capture how the island is transforming so they can tell the story from day one with the skeleton of a building site to hopefully a year later when most of the work is completed.
“If they’re going to bring guests and investors to the island, they know it inside and out and they’re familiar with the place so they can deliver a next-level experience and make it their own.”
The vacancy and what it entails, including the main responsibilities
He added: ‘The principle of ‘barefoot luxury’ essentially means being in a beautiful part of the world, getting good service but not feeling tense. It’s unpretentious luxury.’
He said it would suit those who are adventurous and someone who has a good idea of luxury from working on yachts or in very wealthy households.
George says it is common for wealthy individuals to employ ‘house couples’ as they have different skills that complement each other, such as a gardener and a housekeeper.
The island already has a general manager and engineers responsible for building the facilities, so the couple just needs to make suggestions.
They worked six days a week and had one return flight a year, coupled with 25 days of vacation to spend on one of the nearby islands.
George plans to have a couple selected before Christmas before they can apply for visas and kick-start their influencer dream early next year.
