Sri Lankan star Chamika Karunaratne has been slapped with a 12-month suspended suspension for misconduct following his time in Australia during the T20 World Cup.
The paceman, 26, was also fined $5,000, the island’s cricket board confirmed Wednesday.
Sri Lanka Cricket gave no further details, stating only that Karunaratne had breached ‘several clauses’.
“A three-member investigative panel has recommended that the board “strongly warn the player to refrain from further offenses and impose a penalty that will not affect his cricketing career,” the statement said.
The development comes as teammate Danushka Gunathilaka was suspended earlier this month after being charged with four counts of sexual assault by NSW police just before the team left Australia after the World Cup.

‘Playboy’ teammate Danushka Gunathilaka was suspended from the Sri Lankan cricket board earlier this month after being charged with four counts of sexual assault by NSW police
He is accused of raping a Sydney woman he met on a dating app.
Police allege that Gunathilaka ignored the woman’s request to “take it easy” and instead allegedly suffocated and assaulted the 29-year-old woman.
The top-order batter allegedly then forced himself on the woman in her bedroom.
According to police records, the woman agreed to continue sexual activity, but only if Gunathilaka wore a condom.
He protested, but eventually agreed.
