A man has been found mysteriously dead in an apartment block with detectives investigating a blood trail leading from the premises.

Investigators flocked to Camp Street in Katoomba in New South Wales’ Blue Mountains on Monday after the body of a man was discovered in an apartment block at around 7:20 a.m.

It has not yet been formally identified, but is believed to be around 30 years old.

A NSW Police spokesperson told Daily Mail Australia that detectives are still working to determine the cause of his death.

A crime scene has been established and Blue Mountains Area Command officers have launched an investigation.

Detectives were seen scouring the area Monday afternoon as a police officer recorded the corner of Camp Street and Freelander Avenue.

Investigators went in and out of a four-unit apartment block that property records show is government housing.

Forensic markers could be seen on the driveway entering the complex, with a trail of blood splattered on the concrete.

Markers were seen erected on the pavement leading to the property.

A trail of blood lined a cement path next to the house.

A forensics bag filled with police tape could be seen on the ground near the unit block.
