As the country gears up for this year’s festive season, Myntra is expanding its gifting offerings with a wide choice of over 70,000 options.
The online fashion retailer owned by Walmart said India is uniquely positioned where gifting occasions extend beyond various festivals. There is also an evolution in the need for gifting, highlighted by newer occasions such as gifting colleagues for promotions and farewells.
This, combined with rising disposable incomes and exposure to global trends, is boosting the $72 billion industry, industry reports show.
“Myntra’s gifting segment will provide access to a wide range of over 70,000 handpicked products,” said Sharon Pais, chief business officer, Myntra. “These include unique selections from renowned brands across accessories, home, beauty and personal care, as well as fresh produce under one roof.”
Brands such as Giva, Swarovski, Calvin Klein, Kama Ayurveda, Boat, Noise, Zoop, Chumbak, Home Centre, Tied Ribbons and Kidbea are part of Myntra’s gifting portfolio. The company has expanded into new categories and offers 3,000 products including cakes, flowers, live plants and gourmet gift baskets by partnering with gifting players including Smoor, Ferns and Petals, IGP, RawFruit and Floweraura.
Some products under the gifting category are available for same-day delivery in around 10 cities. Myntra plans to add more cities in the coming months.
“We present our beautiful selection of rare and imported flowers such as hydrangea, peony, lisianthus and alstroemeria,” says Tarun Joshi, founder of Interflora.
With occasions like Friendship Day, Raksha Bandhan and Teachers’ Day approaching, Myntra aims to offer products from over 100 brands across 50 categories.
During Rakhi last year, Myntra saw a 1.6x increase in demand for its most popular gift categories such as watches, perfumes and gift sets.
