She captured the public imagination with her dazzling performances between the sticks for England.

The goalkeeper, 30, said: ‘Probably the hardest part is the public element.
‘It’s very difficult to find a balance between Mary the person and Mary Earps the football player – whoever everyone else thinks you are.

The Manchester United player spoke in an interview with Women’s Health magazine about the row when Nike did not release a replica goalkeeper shirt
“A few years ago, I feel like I made a promise to myself that I would always try to be my authentic self, whether things were going really well or really badly. Just try to be yourself.’
The Manchester United player spoke in an interview with Women’s Health magazine about the row when Nike did not release a replica goalkeeper shirt after England were finalists at the 2023 World Cup.
After criticism, the company released a shirt that quickly sold out. “It wasn’t about me,” she said.
‘It was about sending the message mainly to children, but (also) to people who have a huge passion and interest in goalkeeping. I felt like they were being avoided.”
She also said she hopes the misogynistic attitudes will change. “Sports are a vehicle for change, but they are also a representation of society,” she said.
“But I don’t think a more aggressive response will help our cause. That’s the irony of the whole situation.’
