A woman has revealed how she walked out on her husband and in-laws on New Year’s Eve after finding out they all expected her to pay for dinner.

The unidentified 32-year-old woman, believed to be living in the United States, said her husband wanted her to use the inheritance she received after her mother’s death last year to pay for the celebrations.

The 32-year-old explained that her mother passed away last year, leaving her ‘a good amount of money’ which she has been keeping in a separate bank account.

She added that her husband, whose name she did not share, seemed very interested in the money and kept giving suggestions on how she could spend it, while waiting for her to pay for most of his activities in recent weeks.

This culminated on New Year’s Eve, when the woman and her husband joined their family at a restaurant to celebrate 2023.

“It was going well until I found out that I was expected to call for everyone at the table,” he revealed.

“My husband’s mother joked about paying for dinner with my ‘inheritance pocket’, which made me furious, but I didn’t show any reaction,” she added.

Instead, he revealed that he paid for his own food and drinks before walking through the establishment.

“They were yelling after me like a crowd and my husband tried to make me come back, but I drove home,” she said.

The 32-year-old woman added that she and her husband later argued at their home.

The husband was humiliated by her decision and accused her of refusing to pay because her parents had been unable to help during her mother’s illness.
