The imposing view was softened by the orange hues of the skyline.

But the video then cuts to the results of the photo taken by the unknown man that he decided to take in portrait mode.

As a result, although Katie was very sharp in focus, the stunning background remained blurred and the immense power of the volcano was lost.

Katie uploaded the video with a backing track from Chronically Cautious, by Braden Bales, with the caption, “So if I’m being honest, I’m starting to wonder how much I want this.”

She then overlayed text that read, “POV: You go on a trip alone and ask a guy to take a picture of you and a volcano literally erupting.”

Katie wrote in the caption, “Men will be men.”

And social media users rushed to the comments to share their thoughts.

One of them wrote, “So my friend isn’t the only guy obsessed with portrait mode?” Thank God.’

Another said, “You should ask a girl with a boyfriend to do it.” For between the two one will be decent and get on well.’

And a third added: “Always ask hot girls to take your pictures.”

Luckily for Katie, there’s a way to undo portrait mode even after the photo is taken.

Users who want to disable the effect will need to go to the Photos app, open the snapshot, tap edit, then hit the “portrait” button at the top of the screen to delete it.
