My nightmare neighbours are wrongly convinced the leaves on their driveway are from my tree – so they dumped the mess back in my garden
A woman in need has sought advice online after her neighbors dumped a bag of dead leaves over her garden fence.
The anonymous woman, who revealed her fate on the British blog Mothernetsaid the elderly residents had a “bee in their hood” about some leaves that had blown into their driveway from a nearby tree.
She added that although the leaves had also fallen in her driveway, she didn’t think it was a problem because of the time of year. And despite the pesky tree from a completely different neighbor, she said the couple continually blamed her and her partner for the leafy mess.
After refusing strict requests to rake the leaves from their plot, the woman said her neighbors resorted to dumping the leaves over her garden fence in the dead of night.
While the poster weighed in on whether she was responsible for the escalated conflict, many advised her to throw the bag back on their turf, while one person labeled the older duo “mental.”

She wrote: “Our neighbors are a relatively older couple and since moving here they have had a bee in their hood about leaves blowing in their driveway.
‘The gate to our driveway is opposite their open driveway, separated by a narrow road. Our neighbor has a huge old tree in the yard that produces a lot of leaves, most of which fall on our driveway.
‘We don’t really bother collecting the leaves as it is an endless task at this time of year, but the elderly couple are constantly coming at us because the leaves are blowing across the road into their driveway and sometimes a specimen ends up in their garden. front door’.
At that point, the woman said she informed the couple that she and her partner were not responsible for the tree or its leaves.
She further implored them to resolve the situation themselves or “take it up with our neighbor who owns the tree.”
The poster seemed shocked by what happened next.
“But now they have even started collecting them in black bags, under the cover of darkness,” she continued.
“(And) leave them at the gate of our driveway, or throw them over our fence. The next time they do this, I’m tempted to open the bag and dump it back in their driveway.

“Am I being unreasonable if I don’t pick up the leaves in our garden?” she asked.
The story proved popular on the site, attracting nearly 600 comments from fellow users eager to weigh in on the drama.

Many advised the woman to throw the bag back on the couple’s property, while one person called the elderly duo ‘mental’
Echoing this sentiment, one user said, “Don’t let them tell you how to live, that’s ridiculous. If you give in to this, they will think of something else for you to do to keep them happy. If they picked up the leaves they have no right to dump them on you, it’s not even your tree!’
One person also agreed, writing: ‘(Take the) bags back with a big note on them saying “NOT MY LEAVES THANK YOU”. For heaven’s sake, leaves are just a fact of life this time of year. Bats, nothing crazy. Sip it now or they’ll drive you crazy.”
Another offers a small conclusion, writing: “Since the tree is not on your property, it is completely ridiculous that they are causing you grief. Post the leaves through the letterbox at night. I would also leave wonders and banana peels in their driveway, along with a few rakes scattered about’.
While one user accused the elderly couple of illegally tipping, another branded them “mental” before adding: “Throw the bags in the driveway every time.”
