Why did your daughter Jess nominate you for MMYD? She’s a lovely girl. Her mother was really thoughtful about everything – she could plan things down to the smallest detail – and Jess understood that. She’s so caring and it was just a lovely thing of her to say, “Dad, listen, we understand you’re struggling and it’s been hard and we know you have a lot of love to give and we’re OK if you saw someone else.
Following the death of my wife 18 months ago, I really didn’t want to meet anyone. You don’t expect it to be you and you don’t expect it to be your wife. But I go on the show to gain confidence. I must have subconsciously wanted to meet someone by saying yes to the series.
