My mother-in-law announced the arrival of my baby on social media while I was recovering from a traumatic labor; she still affects me more than two years later.
A woman criticized her mother-in-law for announcing the arrival of her baby on social media while she was still recovering from a traumatic birth.
Steph Mackin, 24, from the UK, spent 32 hours in labor two years ago before finally having to undergo an emergency caesarean section.
Earlier this month, the mother explained in a viral tik tok video how she had wanted to be the one to break the happy news of her daughter’s arrival to friends and family.
However, while recovering in the hospital, Steph saw that her partner’s mother had thrown her into the pole, without first asking her permission.
Steph Mackin, 24, spent 32 hours in labor with her daughter two years ago and only found out her mother-in-law had announced the news on Facebook when she saw the post at the hospital.
In a clip that racked up over 1.5 million views, Steph wrote: ‘[Point of view]: You are browsing Facebook after a 32 hour labor, emergency [C]and you realize you’re not the first to post your baby.
She captioned the clip: “Am I being dramatic when I said this bothered me?”
The video struck a chord with viewers, who were desperate to find out who had posted about Steph’s baby before she had the chance to.
“I bet it was the mother in law,” wrote one. Using a crying laughing emoji, Steph then replied, ‘Yeah!’
Steph (pictured with her daughter) says she’s still ‘in so much pain’ that she couldn’t break the good news herself.
In another comment, Steph revealed that she’s still reeling from her mother-in-law’s actions that day.
After another viewer said she had “every right to feel that way,” she replied, “Thank you!
“It was two and a half years ago and it still hurts a lot.”
Furthermore, Steph’s video prompted viewers to share similar experiences.
A third said: ‘I was asleep and my partner found the post on Facebook. His father’s girlfriend had done it. To say that she had it removed as soon as possible is an understatement.
Meanwhile, a fourth said: “My mother-in-law announced she was pregnant on her Facebook and posted my first ultrasound when we asked her not to.”
Weighing in on the discussion, a nurse responded: ‘My patient woke up from anesthesia after an emergency C-section and a photo was posted before she woke up. I will never forget her crying.
Suggesting a way around the problem, one viewer said: “And for this exact reason, no one will know when I go into labor when I have kids…”
