An Aldi customer has revealed her effortless ‘hack’ for supermarket shopping – although staff are divided over the trick.
Mother of three Eden Kim took to TikTok to share how a laundry basket can be multifunctional β and made her shopping experience even better.
According to the content creator, using the basket allows her to bypass the packing process when shopping for her family.
The Michigan mother called the move her “favorite” way to shop at the popular supermarket chain, known for its low prices, simple layout and lack of bags. She asked customers to bring their own bags or purchase reusable bags at the register. .

Eden says all you need is an empty laundry basket that you can place at the bottom of the shopping cart
βAldi’s laundry basket shopping hack is one of my favorite hacks that I use,β she begins the clip as she pulls an empty basket from her car.
βAll you have to do is bring a laundry basket and put it in the back of your cart,β the mother continued. ‘Then just do your shopping and then ask the cashier to put your shopping directly in the shopping cart.’
The 14-second clip, which has been viewed more than 400,000 times, shows Eden placing the empty basket at the bottom of the shopping cart.
According to the mom, this trick allows you to “skip the whole packing process.”
‘I saw a video of this a few years ago and I’ve been using it ever since!!’ she wrote in the caption. ‘Makes my life so much easier.’
While life may be easier for the mother of three, many TikTok users claiming to be Aldi employees said they aren’t actually allowed to pack items – and Eden was lucky enough to have her local Aldi do it for her.
‘DON’T DO THIS!’ which TikToker urged. ‘I worked at Aldi for years and this is a pet peeve for SO many employees. It slows us down. Then just add it to the laundry basket.’
‘As Aldi employees, we are not actually allowed to do that when checking people out. So you got lucky with your store,β another added.

She promises it will make things easier once you get home, although Aldi workers said they shouldn’t all facilitate her hack
βIf you grab a box while you’re there, it’s the same thing, except you don’t have to remember the basket,β one person noted.
For some, it was more of a hindrance than a hack.
βIt’s getting so tough though,β one customer complained. “I used to live on the third floor without an elevator and had to lug it up the stairs.”
But others were fans of the packing movement.
βI leave the basket in my car, load my cart and pay, then put it back in the cart and load it into the basket outside,β one person said.
“As an Aldi employee I love this and if it’s too heavy it’s not my problem lol,” chimed in another.
