My Kitchen Rules star Manu Feildel opens up about his experience in dealing with a private health struggle

Manu Feildel opens up about his personal struggle with his mental health.

On Thursday morning, the My Kitchen Rules judge and celebrity chef bravely spoke about his personal experiences with stress and anxiety and the methods he uses to alleviate his symptoms.

In a post on Instagram, the 50-year-old French-Australian restaurateur revealed that he goes for a swim in a pool in the ocean almost every morning when the sun comes up.

“Over the past few years I haven’t shared much of my private life on social media, but today I felt like sharing my experiences,” he began.

‘I believe most of us suffer from some form of stress, anxiety or even a mental breakdown at some point and believe me, I am no different. I believe I have found my cure.

‘Since the beginning of the year I’ve been swimming in the pool in the ocean almost every morning and it has changed my life in many ways. It’s not spiritual, but simply revitalizing. It clears my mind of all negativity and makes me start my day in a good mood. It gives me more energy and more focus.’

“I thought, if I can help someone find a solution to their problems, then give it a try,” he suggested.

Manu was flooded with warm messages of encouragement from his friends in the comments.

“This is a wonderful message, my man,” wrote Larry Emdur.

“Always the best start, mate,” added chef Matt Moran.

“Absolutely agree, I always feel great after a dip in the ocean,” someone else commented.

Manu’s candid post comes after his new bistro opened earlier this month, located on the top floor of the nearly two-century-old establishment that recently underwent a $1.5 million renovation.

Manu runs the restaurant together with his friend Jamie Gannon, who has been the director of Laundy Hotels, the pub’s owner, for ten years.

Speak with Time-outManu said he wanted to create a homely atmosphere with the French Bistro.

“I want guests at Bistro Red Lion by Manu to forget the outside world and feel like they are dining in my home and enjoying a good bottle of wine,” he said.

In 2011, Manu opened his first restaurant, Aperitif in Kings Cross, together with Miguel Maestre, but the restaurant closed after 12 months.

He then opened his own French bistro L’Etoile in Paddington, which remained open for six years until his work on MKR forced him to close the business.

He then went into business with George Calombaris’ MAdE Establishment and launched Le Grand Cirque in South Yarra, Melbourne, which lasted only four months.

In 2018, after a year, he closed the doors of his restaurant Duck In Duck Out on World Square, which served a menu consisting only of duck.
