My kids go to private school and I had a high-flying finance job… now I’m an escort making $20,000 a month at 55 – and you’ll be shocked by some of my clients
A Sydney private school mother in her 50s left her stressful job in finance to become an escort and now earns an eye-watering $20,000 a month seeing clients as young as 19.
Single mother Sarah*, 55, left her $100,000 job as a mortgage broker just two years ago to work in high heels and now earns $700 an hour as a high-end escort – and says it’s the best decision she’s ever made taken made.
‘I’ve thought about escorting on and off for years, I think most women do that at least once in their lives? What woman doesn’t want to feel adored and wanted?’ she told former escort and journalist Samantha X in her podcast Xpositive.
‘I was tired of working twelve hours a day and never having enough time for my children. I wanted a more flexible job, a better lifestyle and to be at home more.
‘Company bosses say they are flexible, but they are not. Every time I left to take the kids to sporting events and appointments, eyebrows always raised. I was tired of being judged for my age and being a single working mother is not easy.”

With two marriages under her belt and in her 50s, the fit blonde Australian mother worried she thought she was past her sell-by date and that no man would ever want to book her.
“I discovered that the opposite is true: that men chose me because of my age, my life experience and my self-confidence,” she said.
‘I thought I would be too old at fifty, but I am getting busier and busier. I have no plans to ever retire. As I get older, so do my clients.”
Sarah says sex work in her 50s has changed her self-perception and relationships with men. The mother of two teenagers grew up in a strict Catholic family and says sex was rarely discussed and considered taboo.
“Sex was something to be ashamed of,” she said. “I grew up thinking sex was bad.”
She married twice and said this only led to insecurities about her body.
‘I was ashamed of being naked. “I was the kind of woman who turned off the sex lights and then quickly put on my clothes,” she said.

It was only when she became an escort at the age of fifty that her self-esteem increased and sex became something exciting.
‘It has given me confidence in my body, my age and with men. Now I love my body and feel more satisfied and powerful than ever before, and that’s largely because I feel wanted by men. Sex work has taught me boundaries. The more I worked, the more my confidence grew. “I have men now always telling me I’m beautiful,” she said.
Through sex work, Sarah earns more than $20,000 a month working just a few times a week – a stark contrast to her previous 12-hour corporate job, where she earned $100,000 annually.
She charges $700 per hour and as much as $5,000 per night, but she says a fair portion of that goes to expenses.
‘Being an escort also costs a lot; it’s not all the money in the bank. I have to pay for all my travel, clothes, shoes and of course lingerie. It all adds up!’
Although she keeps her job a secret due to stigma, Sarah says it has made her a better mother because she now has more disposable income – and the greatest asset: time.

‘I like to be honest about my work; I’m not ashamed of it and I’m very happy with it. Unfortunately, sex workers are judged, which is ridiculous these days. But my children have everything they need: I’m at home most of the time now, I don’t sit stressed at a desk or have to answer to someone at work who meets deadlines. I can work around my work and my lifestyle. Everyone benefits,” she said.
One of the biggest surprises in her new job was that men valued conversations and companionship more than physical intimacy.
‘Of course the money keeps me in the industry, but the biggest surprise for me was that men need connection and emotional intimacy more than women. Most of my work involves listening; I’m more of a therapist than anything.”
She hopes to continue as long as she has interested customers of all ages, from 19 to 70. ‘I get all types of men – older men, younger men, divorced, married, single, young people who like sexy moms, which is really flattering! “More than anything, they want to have a conversation and feel valued,” she said.
And her message to older women? ‘Never think that you are running out of time or that your life is over at forty or fiftieth. I wish I had known at 40 what I know at 50: women are becoming sexier, more confident, and more desirable. You don’t have to be a sex worker to feel that, every woman can do that if she believes in herself. It’s society that tells us otherwise.’
