In the episode, Kaitlin revealed that she first met Aaron in elementary school.
The pair eventually began dating when she was 18 and soon began abusing prescription drugs.
The couple took a temporary hiatus when she became pregnant with son Camden, but when he was just six months old, they returned to their old habits and began using harder substances.
Their relationship was plagued with strife when she admitted that the duo “did everything they could” to get high, including stealing.
Keen to change her lifestyle, Kaitlin entered rehab in 2016 – but just a week before she was due to leave, Aaron overdosed and died.
In the aftermath of his death, Kaitlin found solace in talking to Aaron’s brother Rory – who admitted he hadn’t trusted her when the pair first met.
Rory would check on Kaitlin and his then-two-year-old nephew on weekends, and that’s how their relationship began to blossom.
Rory said, “At first we were both a little hesitant about disclosing our relationship to our families. We didn’t want them to think we didn’t care about Aaron.”

Speaking of her own reactions, Aaron and Rory’s mom Jess (center) admitted she thought it was “a little weird” at first
Speaking of her own reactions, Jess, the mother of Aaron and Rory, admitted that she thought it was “a little weird” at first.
She revealed, “My first thought was, ‘How would Aaron feel’ and I knew he wouldn’t like it at all. He wouldn’t be happy.
But once I looked at it [Rory] sat watching it… you can’t help who you have feelings for.’
She concluded, “It’s not my decision who my children are with.”
Kaitlin and Rory, who also has a son from a previous relationship, have been together for seven years now.
The couple have welcomed two daughters of their own, and Camden now calls Rory “daddy” instead of “uncle.”
They said if Aaron knew about their relationship now, he would be “greatly comforted.”
