My guests think I’m tacky for wanting to charge them $50 to attend my wedding – is it really that bad?
A bride-to-be has been branded “tasteless” after she wanted friends and family to pay $50 each for her wedding.
“We all know weddings are expensive,” the woman said in an online group. “What do you think about charging guests $50 to come?”
The bride thought it was a good idea to charge people because it would keep the cost of food down without impacting the guest list.
“RSVP with your $50… I don’t think it’s tacky. It’s practical and good for business,” she said.
People were quick to attack the bride and expressed their outrage online, with many calling it “ridiculous” and “cheap” to expect guests to foot the bill.
“Wow. Yeah, we know you don’t think it’s vulgar – you just want to hear that you’re right. And you’re not,” one woman said.
This is trashy AF. If you can’t afford it, don’t do it!’ another chimed in.
“Here’s my idea: throw a wedding you can actually afford!” said a third.
A bride-to-be looking for support for her idea to charge guests for her wedding got an unpleasant surprise when everyone agreed it was ‘tasteless’ and ‘cheap’
People criticized the bride-to-be because they thought it was “good business” to charge guests. “Have the wedding you can afford!” one woman said.
Others who had less trouble with the etiquette surrounding wedding invitationsstill did not think the entry fee was good value for money.
“Girl, I don’t even go to bars where you have to pay to enter,” one woman said.
“For my $50 per person I can get better food and better entertainment,” added another.
One man was shocked when the American woman thought a wedding was meant to be a “business commitment” and not a celebration of love.
Another said that the “entitled” bride did not understand the meaning of the word “world guest.”
“What happened to the joy of hosting? Being generous to your guests used to be one of the greatest pleasures.”
“You know, it’s better to give than to receive, that kind of thing,” he added.
This is not the first time that a bridal couple has charged their guests to help pay for their dream wedding.
A New York couple who wanted to get married in style found that 80 percent of their guests couldn’t attend after they tried to charge them $333 each.
Nova and Reemo Styles wanted to get married at the city’s famous St. Patrick’s Cathedral, but discovered the church alone would cost $150,000.
The couple decided to think outside the box and came up with the idea of letting their guests pay for the costs.
“Let’s stress out the guests and sell tickets to a wedding,” Nova said.
Thousands of people were shocked by the influencer couple’s ‘spoiled’ behavior.
“Talk about TACKY!” wrote one man. “I would never dream of letting someone pay to come to my wedding! That’s just ridiculous.”
“These people are cheapskate! They want the bling but are too cheap to pay for it,” added another.
“I hope they used that money to buy some class,” said a third.
