One woman’s French husband has shared 12 behaviors all women should be aware of on their first date if they want to interact with “elegant” men – and when to draw the line and move on.
The man is happily married and regularly shares advice on the ‘right’ way to treat women.
Some of his tactics included making sure the man is decisive and chooses the restaurant, being punctual and asking you a lot of questions about yourself.
‘If he asks you, ‘Where should we go? Which restaurant should I choose?’ without handling the reservation itself, move on,” said the Frenchman.
“If there is any hesitation about picking up the check or a suggestion to split it, move on to the next one.”

The Frenchman listed even more qualities to keep an eye on.
“He shouldn’t be late, shouldn’t just talk about himself and not ask about you, and should always offer you the best seat at the table with the best view if he’s a true gentleman.
‘A night out without compliments is like champagne without bubbles.’
The husband also listed some etiquette points, explaining that the man should never order before the date and always refill the date’s glass of wine and water.
“He is not allowed to flirt with the waitress or even look at her with charming eyes.
“He must also offer you the first slice of bread and spread it for you,” said the Frenchman.
Finally, he added, “A man of elegance should always have a suggestion for the next date.”
Several women agreed with the French husband’s list.
‘Yes, butter my bread! Refill my wine glass! Give me a compliment! A real gentleman. Chivalry needs CPR because he’s on life support!’ wrote one.
“This is the bare minimum and my boyfriend can’t do it,” one woman said
‘Amen! I found my husband at age 42 with all these criteria. They’re there!’ another wrote.
While others claimed the standards were too high.
“There’s a lot of toxic monogamy in here,” one woman said.
“If you’re confident in who you are, you don’t have to try so hard to impress a lady,” wrote another. ‘Embarrassing.’
