My favourite shirt with Graham Stuart: Everton’s kit when we beat Man United in the FA Cup final in 1995 was clean and classy… even the name of our sponsors looked striking!

  • Graham Stuart scored 31 goals in 161 games for Everton between 1993 and 1997
  • Stuart impressed at Goodison Park and helped them win the FA Cup in 1995
  • CHRIS SUTTON: Erik ten Hag is still on trial. He needs more than gradual improvement this season to keep his job It all starts podcast

Simplicity is genius and the Everton kit was clean and stylish, no experimental designs.

I loved it. Even the name of our sponsors NEC, in white letters against a navy blue background, looked striking.

For the showpiece against Manchester United, they added the 1995 FA Cup Final line above our club crest at the top left. It was a nice touch and gave us an extra sense of occasion.

Sir Alex Ferguson’s team were favorites with stars like Roy Keane and Mark Hughes, but we beat them 1-0 and I helped set up the first-half winner for Paul Rideout, who scored past goalkeeper Peter Schmeichel.

I’m a Londoner and my parents, two sisters and a then girlfriend traveled from Wimbledon to Wembley to witness it. It was a fantastic day.
