My favorite Bluetooth party speaker is back, and this time there’s a karaoke function
- Tribit StormBox Blast 2 released, with 200W of party power
- A new karaoke function adds reverb and microphone inputs
- Yes, the RGB light show will continue
Regular readers need no further ado from me about the 4.5-star Tribit StormBox Blast, which I reviewed shortly after its release in July 2022 and put straight into our best Bluetooth speakers and best party speaker buying guides.
Sadly, time marches on and over time the Bose SoundLink Max has taken its place in those guides, but the big news now is that Tribit has just released a successor for a pretty penny – and it has a karaoke function and microphone inputs!
The Tribit StormBox Blast 2 (that’s its name) boasts improved features, including higher IP67 waterproofing, Bluetooth 5.4 and a remarkable 200W power – versus 90W in the older model.
But the headline grabber (aside from the significant quoted output power consisting of an 80W subwoofer, dual 45W mid-range drivers and two 15W tweeters) is something Tribit calls the Blast 2’s “professional karaoke function”. This features an adjustable reverb effect, dual wired or wireless microphone connections and the ability to adjust microphone volume for different vocal styles.
Are you considering a karaoke party during the holidays? The Blast 2 can help
As a self-confessed karaoke enthusiast (I used to be on stage, you know) I’m already sold, but Tribit is keen to further extol the virtues of the acoustic design, telling me that the Blast 2’s 80W subwoofer features diamond amplification ribs for a punchy, resolute low end. And if you’re all about bass, the 2.1-channel design is powered by two Ti amplifiers, with dual large passive radiators to make it really resonate.
What about the customizable dynamic lighting that many users (at least the ones I leaned mine against) loved in the older model? It’s back! The speaker can be synced to the heartbeat of the song being played, or you can choose a favorite color in the Tribit app to add a visual theme to your party, wedding, bar and so on.
Worried about the music cutting out halfway through the party? I wouldn’t be; the StormBox Blast 2 has a playtime of 30 hours – and can also be used to charge phones or other gadgets, so none of your guests run out of juice.
This time, Tribit also talks about an intriguing “innovative X3D algorithm,” to surround music lovers with “an immersive sound that adds an extra layer of excitement to any gathering.” How good is that? We don’t know yet, but we are testing it, so once we know, you will know too.
