MVP insists he’s NOT retired from WWE action and explains original lineup of The Hurt Business

MVP insists that he has NOT retired from WWE in-ring action and explains how the original lineup of The Hurt Business was chosen…and how they have to come back together.

MVP was one of WWE’s best hires in years when they brought him back in 2020 and he continues to make his presence felt in the company today.

This weekend at WrestleMania, the 49-year-old will manage the seven-foot-three Omos as he takes on the Beast Incarnate, Brock Lesnar.

But MVP himself hasn’t wrestled since July 2022. Has the former United States Champion finished getting into action himself?

“Well, I’m not officially retired,” MVP confirms. But that day will come, sooner rather than later. I haven’t hung up my boots yet, but I only have a few left. So those games will be games that really matter.

‘No, because the card is subject to change. It’s a winding road from one day to the next. But at some point, I’d probably like to play someone who is young, promising and potentially career-threatening. I would love to do a retirement party. I think there’s still some time left before we get there.

Still, he has some goals that he would like to achieve.

The former leader of The Hurt Business is sure he would like to resurrect the group and write a new chapter.

Many fans felt that the popular faction ended too soon, including MVP, confirming that Ricochet and Apollo Crews were originally intended for the group.

But, MVP said SportsMail why it was Cedric Alexander who got the nod.

It came down to when me, Bobby and Shelton were trying to figure out who the next member would be. They obviously wouldn’t give us all and then said “you can have one”.

“So at the time, we felt like Apollo was setting out on his own, so it came down to Ricochet and Cedric.

“We felt that Ricochet had a better chance of succeeding on his own, while Cedric would do better with us. And so far, I think I’ve been pretty accurate in that assessment.
