Music industry bosses call on US regulators to scrap planned tour fee increase that will hit UK artists
Hit hard: British rapper Little Simz has canceled her US tour
Music industry bosses are calling on US regulators to scrap a planned increase in tour fees that will hit British artists.
Visa costs for musicians will more than triple from £375 to £1,317 under plans being considered by the US Immigration Service.
But UK Music, which represents the music industry, said the proposed changes would be ‘deeply harmful’, making America off-limits to many British acts.
British rapper Little Simz has canceled her US tour because of the already substantial costs.
And yesterday UK Music boss Jamie Njoku-Goodwin said: ‘We are urging the US authorities to think again. We should do everything we can to make touring easier, not harder.’
