Murder victim Chloe Jade Mason had already cheated death years before she was fatally gunned down in a Brisbane street – and her lover tragically died in a savage Australia Day knife fight
EXCLUSIVE
A young woman who was chased and shot by two men days before Christmas had already faced death when she was stabbed in the heart in 2016.
Chloe Jade Mason, known to those close to her as CeeJay, was found unconscious on Railway Parade in Caboolture in Brisbane’s north just after midnight on Sunday.
The 23-year-old could not be revived and was tragically pronounced dead at the scene.
Queensland police are still hunting for her heartless killers and the murder weapon they used.
Daily Mail Australia can reveal that Ms Mason was involved in a stabbing in 2016 that almost claimed her life.
‘I’m in the [hospital] department now,” she shared on social media at the time.
‘There are still nurses around me 24/7 checking on me [and] making sure everything is correct and nothing is out of place.
‘I have two drains in my heart to drain all the blood that leaks from the valve that was cut when the knife went 3 cm deep into my heart.
“I’m fighting through this with the love and support of my family and friends.”
The shocking revelation comes after it was revealed that her former boyfriend Kane Alexanderson, 18, was himself stabbed to death during a knife fight in 2020.

The incident with her former flame took place in a high-rise apartment in Brisbane, when Mr Alexanderson, along with eight other men, stormed in to confront a man watching an Australia Day fireworks show.
An altercation led to Mr. Alexanderson being stabbed twice.
In the years after his death, Ms Mason regularly shared tributes to him on social media.
“Your spirit lives on in my soul Kane, I can’t feel you very well anymore and you don’t give me any signals that you’re there,” she wrote in a haunting post on Facebook.
“I hope you’ve finally moved on to the other side, but never forget that it’s never always goodbye – I’ll see you soon.”
“Words cannot explain the pain I am going through, you will forever be a part of my family and my heart,” she wrote in another post.
Ms Mason was facing a string of offenses in the Brisbane Magistrates Court and the Supreme Court of Queensland when she died.
She was previously sentenced to 18 months in prison after being convicted of supplying drugs.
In a bizarre coincidence, Mr. Alexanderson’s mother had spent time in prison with Ms. Mason.
‘They just loved each other. They were beautiful. She wanted to see him again. She definitely missed him,” she told The Courier Mail after visiting the scene where Mrs Mason died.
A former friend paid tribute to her ‘prison sister’, recalling how they communicated from the air vents of prison cells during evening lockdowns.
“Rest in peace, CeeJay Mason,” she posted.
“We will all miss you so damn much, my prison sister – fly high huni.”
Investigators have set up a task force of local and specialist homicide detectives to lead the investigation into the tragic death.
Police say they have not located the murder weapon at this stage, but detectives believe it was a targeted attack and say there is no greater risk to the public.

One witness said they heard “about three or four gunshots and then some wailing.”
Residents of another property down the street were questioned by police, but detectives claim they have no confirmed suspects or leads.
“We have a number of witnesses assisting us at this time, but we have no one in custody,” said Detective David Harbison.
‘It is a tragedy to lose such a young life in such a violent way, so we will get to the bottom of it. It’s the best thing we can do for the family at this time.”
On Sunday, Mrs Mason’s devastated sister launched a fundraising campaign to share a heartbreaking message.
“Chloe was chased by two men and fatally shot on December 22, 2024 in Brisbane,” Hannah McKone wrote on GoFundMe.
‘Chloe was only 23 years old.
‘Because Christmas is so close, her family has no savings or financial resources to give her a funeral.
‘We kindly ask for help and support. All money donated will go directly towards Chloe’s funeral service.’
Another sister, Danni Mason, remembered Chloe as a “daughter, a sister, an aunt and a friend… who was loved by many.
“This loss has devastated our family and we are struggling to come to terms with this so close to the holidays.
“As sisters, we grieve for the things she won’t experience, all the things we won’t be able to share, and the memories we won’t make. She was an incredible woman.”
