Mum’s ‘spiteful’ act at Coles sparks heated debate: ‘Am I in the wrong?’

A mother has asked if she is wrong after her controversial act in the supermarket.

Lani said she took three items from a 'negligent' woman's shopping at Coles to get back at her.

At that point, Lani's screaming toddler threw a tantrum, but she says the customer didn't let her go through the manned checkout first.

Lani said she only had two items, while the other woman had $407 worth of groceries.

“My husband still says 'you didn't do that,' but I'm all for it. She could have let me go first and stopped the whining in her (toddler's) ear,” she captioned a TikTok video.

Lani claims a Coles customer with $407 worth of groceries didn't let her go through the staff checkout first, even though she only had two items. At the time, her toddler was screaming and throwing a tantrum

Lani entered Coles to grab two ingredients for dinner and held her youngest son Hudson, who “scratched and hit” her.

She claimed that the other woman with the cart full of groceries was “watching” her.

“Obviously Hudson's squeaking threw her off, like it threw me off, but what do you do?” Lani said.

The self-service checkouts weren't working, so Lani had to wait in line at the manned checkout with customers who had carts full of groceries.

Instead of letting Lani through, the woman continued to pile her groceries on the counter.

So the mother decided to take matters into her own hands.

“She wouldn't let me go for her because of two little things. Me being the absolute hateful bitch that I am. I grabbed her eggs and bacon and her butter that was at the back of the pile,” Lani said.

She explained how she took the items and hid them behind her own two products she was purchasing.

'I hope she comes home and doesn't get her eggs and bacon tomorrow because she's an inconsiderate b***h.

“(The lady) literally looked at me like Hudson was the biggest germ in the world. Am I wrong?'

Getting back to the woman “keeping an eye on her,” Lani grabbed the customer's butter, eggs, and bacon. “I hope she comes home and doesn't get her eggs and bacon tomorrow because she's an inconsiderate b***h,” Lani said

“My husband still says 'you didn't do that,' but I'm all for it. She could have let me go first and stopped the whining in her (toddler's) ear,” she captioned a TikTok video

The two-minute video was viewed more than 904,000 times and sparked a debate among hundreds of people.

“For anyone who is confused, the culture in Australia of letting someone with two things go in front of you in line is very common,” one person commented.

'100 percent love this. It's not hard to be a nice person, nice people get eggs and bacon!' said another.

'Absolutely worth its weight in gold. If I had seen you struggling or not, even with just two items, I would have insisted that you go for me. She gets a dry breakfast,” a third added.

'It's so wrong, but so right. Great job,” someone else said.

But others disagreed, saying Lani should not have taken the groceries that weren't hers.

“You're wrong, but normally Coles would have a 15 item or less rule,” said one.

'You are wrong. It is best to treat the mean people kindly. Like, ask her if you can help her pack the groceries or something,” another added.

'It is polite to let someone with minimal belongings lead the way, but that is not necessary. If I'm standing in line forever, I won't let anyone in,” another wrote.
