Mum’s last post before she died aged 37 will break your heart: ‘It was tears and tears all the time’
The latest post by a mother of two who died after a second battle with breast cancer reveals the harrowing battle of her final days.
Emma Gorrick, 37, lost her battle on Tuesday morning while holding the hands of her husband Dave and her sister.
The Sydney woman had spent more than $350,000 on cancer treatments to prolong her life in a bid to see her children grow up.
Her extraordinary efforts resulted in Emma living for two years – after doctors gave her just two months to live.
In her latest Facebook post, Emma told her friends and family on September 29 that times had been ‘really hard lately’ as her health and the family’s finances began to decline.
“The emergency trips have finally calmed down even though most of the time I’m still very weak,” she wrote.
“Most of the time (I) don’t feel well, so I hardly get to do anything or see anyone.”

The determined mother had previously beaten breast cancer in 2011 at the age of 25.
But the cruel disease returned this time with a definitive diagnosis and she suffered terrible symptoms, including dizziness, blackouts, constant nausea and vomiting.
She was bedridden for most of the day and relied on her husband to take care of her.
“I’m not eating as much as I normally would, mine and Dave’s mental health is really low, our finances are gone, so stress is through the roof,” she wrote in her post.
“It’s been tears and tears all the time lately just wanting to live my life trying to get out of the hole of depression I fell into but we will get there.
“We are an incredible team and we can overcome them all.
“It’s just a slow and steady process of staying positive and working through it all. I’m down to 1 doctor now with no other appointments to save as much as we can.’
Her post ends by saying that she believed she ‘can still do it, I just know I can.’
