- Mama shared a “lazy” four-ingredient dinner
- She used pot sauce, pasta, chicken and bacon
- Many said an authentic carbonara is cheaper and easier
A mom of three has wowed thousands with her tasty four-ingredient “lazy” dinner — but not everyone is convinced.
Emma Lou used just a pot of carbonara sauce, pasta, chicken and bacon to whip up a dinner she said her kids loved.
While many got on board with the simple meal, others were quick to point out that ditching the pot of egg, parmesan, and pasta water sauce would make for a cheaper and more authentic carbonara dish.
The British mom shared the now-viral “lazy dinner” tip in a TikTok clamp.
“Because I’m so lazy and can’t cook, I got this pot from (British supermarket) Tesco and put everything in and mixed it up,” she explained.

Mother-of-three Emma Lou’s ‘lazy’ dinner party has divided parents. Some liked the simple recipe, but others hit it off and said they should ditch the pot sauce to make a more authentic carbonara
After stirring the sauce into the pasta, Emma added cooked chicken and bacon bits and served.
‘Before you say it, I’m not Italian. CI can’t complain because they ate it all and I made the kids clean up,” she added.
Emma used a creamy Carbonara sauce from UK supermarket Tesco, but Aussie shoppers can get a similar sauce from Dolmio for just $4 at Woolworths
Some viewers were “confused” by the Carbonara recipe and disapproved of the idea.
“I don’t get carbonara sauce if all you have to do is add eggs, Parmesan and a little pasta water,” said one mom, adding, “Probably a similar price, but tastes so much better and not processed.”
Carbonara sauce is literally eggs and cheese mixed together and topped with some hot water from the pasta pot. it takes about two minutes to make,’ agreed a second.
Many jumped to Emma’s defense, noting that sauces from jars are also quick to use and that cheese can be too expensive for many households amid the rising cost of living.
“It takes a second to pour a pot into pasta,” one viewer joked while another said, “Also, cheese in general is expensive.”
‘Marinara sauce is also simple and people buy jars. Not everyone can have fresh ingredients at home and parmigiano is a luxury,’ replied a third.
Contrary to the comments, I actually quite like the carbonara sauce in a jar. It’s less troublesome!’ a woman wrote.
There were many parents who wanted to try the ‘brilliant’ no-fuss meal for themselves, with one saying ‘I would eat this without complaint’.
‘I would be completely on top of it, that looks so good. Cooking takes effort, as long as there’s something edible on the table, who cares,” said another mom.
One viewer suggested: ‘Put in some broccoli and frozen peas too, it will be really tasty’.
“Another brilliant sauce is literally Philadelphia with a little milk,” recommended another.
Aussie customers can get their hands on a similar sauce from Dolmio for just $4 at Woolworths.
