- Victoria Marsh dropped five cup sizes to 34C after four hours of surgery
- Despite ‘starving’ herself to meet the NHS’s BMI criteria, Victoria was rejected
A mother paid £10,000 for an operation to prevent her 34H breasts from ‘pressing down’ against her ribs.
Victoria Marsh, from Nuneaton, Warwickshire, dropped five cup sizes to C after four hours of surgery.
In constant pain and tired of looking ‘tarty’ all the time, Ms Marsh went to her local GP to apply for a breast reduction on the NHS.
The size of her assets also made it difficult for her to play and lift her children, so she was desperate for the life-changing procedure.
Despite “starving” herself to meet the BMI criteria, Ms. Marsh was rejected.
Victoria Marsh, from the East Midlands, dropped five cup sizes from 34H to 34C after a grueling four-hour operation. The 33-year-old had surgery in July at Nuffield Health Leicester Hospital
The mother of two struggled to pick up her six-year-old daughter and eleven-year-old son
Ms Marsh, who is a buyer, said: ‘I had to have a BMI of 25 or less. I starved myself beforehand and I was bang on at 25. But I got a letter that I didn’t qualify.
“I was not considered disproportionate enough.
“I started to feel them pressing on my ribs.
“I had a lot of physio on my shoulders. I had grooves in it.
‘I had constant pulled muscles in my neck and inflammation in the skin under my breasts. I kept putting talcum powder under it.’
The folds between the breasts can cause friction and lead to skin damage. The heat and trapped moisture create an ideal environment for bacteria to grow, which can lead to secondary infections.
Before the surgery, the size of her belongings made it difficult for her to play and lift her children
After the surgery, Victoria said she can wear whatever she wants and not feel self-conscious
The mother-of-two used the profits from a house sale – along with a £3,000 loan – to pay for private surgery at Nuffield Health Leicester Hospital.
Describing the results of the procedure, she said, “I feel great.
“The procedure was so worth it and my quality of life has improved a thousandfold.
‘I can do a lot more with the children.
“I can wear the things I want to wear and not feel self-conscious.”
Since she was 16, Ms. Marsh has felt self-conscious and said that when she grew up people would point out how big her breasts were.
The 33-year-old comes from a “genetically large breasted family” and has seen the impact on her mother, Debbie, 64, and her double G breast.
For years she paid £50 every time she needed a bra because they all had to be made to measure.
When Mrs. Marsh had her two children, she hoped that breastfeeding would solve all her problems.
But instead of her breasts deflating, they just got bigger.
