A mom has shared the simple budget cleaning hack that saves her thousands of dollars every year on cleaning supplies, but said her husband thinks it’s “too far.”

The Australian woman, named Meg, posted on Facebook, where she said she always cuts “things in half so they last longer.”

She does this with items including soap bars, loofahs, dishwasher tablets, and shampoo and conditioner bars.

Meg wrote: ‘Husband thinks it’s too far, I think it’s great. I cut things in half to make them last longer.

She added: ‘It’s the little things that have made all the difference. Doing little things like this helped us get out of debt and achieve our dreams.’

It wasn’t long before hundreds of people chimed in and said they thought it was a good idea.

While others shared that they do something similar at home.

Many said they thought it was a great cleaning idea as we often use too many items like dishwasher tablets and washing powder (stock image)

“We cut the dishwasher tablets in half and saved a fortune,” wrote one commenter.

Another said: ‘I dilute cleaning products. There is no way you would need that much product. I even dilute laundry liquid and dish soap. It’s easier to do that, so remember not to be so harsh.’

A third said she remembers being told by a washing machine repairman that she “should only use half of what the washing powder manufacturers recommend.”

“Then our dishwasher installer also told us that it only takes a teaspoon of dishwashing powder and instead of that chemical drying solution, open the dishwasher door when it’s done to prevent condensation from soaking the dishes.” “, he added.

However, not everyone was on board with the idea, with some saying they sided with Meg’s husband.

‘Sorry, I’m with your husband. Cutting things in half doesn’t make them last longer. I’m cutting things down but soap is ridiculously cheap and cutting it in half doesn’t change anything,” wrote one woman.

“I don’t think this will work,” added another.
