Mum dubbed ‘vile’ and ‘disgusting’ for her controversial act in a public pool: ‘I don’t see the issue’

A young mother has been harshly criticised for a ‘disgusting’ act at a public swimming pool, leaving thousands of people with mixed reactions.

The mother recently shared that she has a strict routine: she goes swimming with her family every week, even when she is on her period.

Others disagreed with the mother’s admission that she did not wear a tampon or menstrual cup at the time.

“I swim every Friday night with my other half and my child. My sister said it was disgusting to swim while I was bleeding,” she told parenting forum Mumsnet.

“But it was towards the end of my cycle and my period was actually already over.”

The mother confirmed that she would not get into the pool if the current was “heavy,” but she did not see the problem occur at the end of her cycle.

“My sister said it’s not fair to other swimmers,” she added.

‘Are there any rules about this? Is a tampon suitable if you do want to swim?’

The mother also indicated that she hates using a tampon in the pool.

I’m not sure about others, but when I bathe while [wearing] ‘A tampon eventually fills with water and expands quickly.’

Many were shocked by the mother’s “appalling” behavior.

“Period swimwear for lighter days and a cup for heavier days,” one person advised. “I would never go into a public pool where people could see blood running down my legs. Plus, it’s just not the right thing to do.”

“So basically just free bleeding in the pool? Isn’t that the same as peeing in the pool? That’s a no-go,” said another, while a third claimed free bleeding was “worse” than peeing in the pool.

Some did not see the problem with the mother’s behavior.

“There’s nothing wrong with what she’s doing. I used to always use a tampon, but now I wear period swimwear with shorts over it and I don’t have any leaks anymore,” one woman wrote.

‘In my experience the water pressure stops or slows down your flow, if there is any leakage I don’t think you would notice. It’s not like you’re leaving a trail of blood,’ shared another.
