Mum of Love Island’s Anton Danyluk recalls coming face to face with his brother’s ‘ghost’
The mother of Love Island’s Anton Danyluk has opened up about a “spooky encounter” she had almost 27 years ago, in which she came face to face with the “ghost” of her brother.
Sherie Ann, 59, tragically lost her brother Martin in a car accident in 1996.
But just a week after his funeral, Sherie, from North Lanarkshire, Scotland, said she saw Martin “standing outside the bedroom window.”
Sherie, who until that point had “never believed” in spirits, said she did a “double take.”
speaking to Sun, she said: ‘I looked outside again and heard Martin’s voice telling me: ‘Go to the office immediately.’ She was shaking and I said to myself, “Sherie Ann, you’re going crazy.”
Creepy: The mother of Love Island’s Anton Danyluk has opened up about a “creepy encounter” she had almost 27 years ago, in which she came face to face with the “ghost” of her brother.
But the voice did not stop.
“Martin was yelling this time,” he said. ‘He was yelling ‘go to the office’.
I was scared. The creepy encounter was real, my brother spoke from the grave. He was a ghost telling me to get up and go, to stop crying and go to work.
“I instantly went from a non-believer to a believer.”
At the time, Sherie owned MacCorns, Scotland’s first popcorn manufacturing company.
He had started it five years earlier, in October 1991, and was initially successful.
By 1995, the business-savvy mum had secured a lucrative contract with Safeway’s, a major chain at the time, and began shipping up to 35,000 bags of popcorn a day to the supermarket giant’s 240 stores across Scotland.
“The company was my life and Martin worked for me,” he told the publication.
Closing: Sherie Ann, 59, tragically lost her brother Martin in a car accident in 1996. But just a week after his funeral, Sherie, from North Lanarkshire, Scotland, said she saw Martin “standing outside the window of the bedroom.”
‘It grew fast and was valued at millions of pounds when the supermarket contract was signed.
“He had 57 employees and was proud to have made popcorn a super hit snack.”
His successful business continued to grow, and after receiving another order for £250,000, the bank offered him another quarter of a million to expand his business.
But in May 1996, things took a turn for the worse, when his brother passed away and his ‘whole world fell apart’.
Unfortunately, the new £250k order was withdrawn at the same time. To offset the debt, an offer was made to buy his company for just £1.
She told The Sun: “My team kept the business going and I thought everything was under control until Martin’s ghost showed up.”
When Sherie arrived at the office, ordered by Martin, she was still in her pajamas.
He continued: “I knew I had to listen to Martin and put the business first again,” he said. ‘I told everyone I didn’t want it to be sold. I argued against the plan and promised to get back to work.
‘I explained that I would find another way to keep the business going.
‘I convinced everyone that my idea and a renewed commitment were the solution.
And thanks to Martin I managed to avoid the sale.
Love Island stint: Anton placed fifth in the 2019 series of Love Island, after finally mating with Belle Hassan, he wasn’t home
“I was able to renegotiate debt, fill backorders, fight for the business, and focus on making it more personalized.”
After confiding in the ghost of her brother, the influencer’s mother admitted that she has now turned to “all things spiritual.”
Speaking about her son’s time on the popular ITV show, she said: “When Anton appeared in the fifth series of Love Island in 2019, I knew the advice the ghost of my brother had given me to focus on family and a business family had come true. I could see Martin in Anton.
It comes after Anton confessed that there are days when he “regrets” applying for Love Island after being hounded by cosmetic surgery allegations by online trolls.
The 28-year-old Scottish gym owner, whose fans say he looks “barely recognizable” since he became a bodybuilder, admitted he tries to ignore the negative comments but would be “lying” if he said they don’t affect him sometimes.
In an exclusive interview with MailOnline, Anton revealed that he has been equipped for abuse by years of bullying at school, in which he also suffered from an eating disorder, and that he wishes others didn’t have to put up with what he has.
He admitted that the scope of the trolling forced him to ask his girlfriend Dom Blonska: ‘What’s wrong with my face?’ who assured that he only looks different since four years have passed since his time on the ITV2 reality show.
Determined to use his platform for good, the TV personality has now launched a free app to improve children’s mental health as he is passionate about the subject.
New Adventure: Along with their mother Sherie-Ann, the couple encourages young people to think about the emotional implications of negative comments through The Can-Do Crew, available now.

He said: ‘It’s something we’ve been working on long before the Love Island days. Obviously, I was running my own fitness business before I started working with kids around 2013.
“And then, luckily, we got the massive Love Island platform that allowed us to help thousands of children, that was always my dream.”
Having been abused by some Instagrammers who claim he’s been under the knife, which he denies, Anton hopes his new initiative will “teach kids from an early age how to be a better person.”
He said: ‘It’s funny because I was bullied as a kid for being overweight and that was the main reason I physically started living a healthier lifestyle.
‘Now, all these years later, they’re hounding me in a different way. I don’t think I would have been able to deal with it as well as I do now if I never went through it when I was younger.
“I hope no kid has to deal with it the way I have to. But my thing was always that if I could help a person not have to go through what I went through, then I would be doing something right.
I am now in a fortunate position. We have this massive, massive following, which means I get to give back. I think what I’ve created with the Can-Do Crew is what I can teach kids.
Opening: Anton Danyluk has confessed that there are days when he “regrets” appearing on Love Island after being hounded by cosmetic surgery accusations by online trolls.
“Hopefully we can help children around the world, not just in the UK, to be able to deal with this and their mental state as well and not have to go through what I go through on a daily basis.”
Asked if she ever regretted her decision to apply for the 2019 Love Island series, the star replied: “Yeah, I mean, I think we’ve called it the Love Island curse, it’s like a catch-22.”
“Sometimes I wish I’d never done it so I didn’t have to go through it, but at the same time I’m like, ‘Well, I’ve got this platform where I can do good things.
‘I put content every day to stay in shape and I know people are going to give me negativity for it. But if I’m posting it and it’s helping others, then it’s positive, isn’t it?’
Anton went on to reveal his plans to pressure the government and social media to crack down on trolling, while going to schools to speak about his experiences.
He said: ‘It’s a form of intimidation and I think whether it’s Instagram, whether it’s the government, there has to be something done in a way that this trolling can’t continue.
“Here in Dubai, trolling is illegal. You are not allowed to do so. I feel like someone or something has to just take a stand to say, “This shouldn’t be done.”

On whether he would take his fight to Parliament, Anton said: ‘That’s our plan with the Can-Do Crew and hopefully trying to get into schools.
No one is born racist. No one is born a bad person. It is their environment in which they find themselves. So if we can now target children from an earlier age and somehow help them understand this, it will only benefit later.
“So I would love to, in some way, be a part of that movement and I think by having that platform as well and receiving it myself, if I can do something about it, I would love to.”
“Once you’ve had such a supernatural encounter, it changes you for the better,” he said.
Anton and Sherie Ann have just launched an app called The Can Do Crew.
The app is a wellness program for the whole family and uses cartoon-style popcorn characters inspired by the life of Sherie Ann and the pain she experienced.
Encourage children to eat healthy, be mindful, and get good exercise.
“The app encourages families to take a leap of faith, reconnect, bond and for children to take personal responsibility,” she said. “It’s inspired by my leap of faith when Martin’s spirit spoke to me and Anton appeared on Love Island.”
