Mum’s rant sensationally backfires after she claimed an $18 Kmart Australia shirt was ‘too revealing’ for her daughter to wear
A mother has been criticized for labeling a basic gray knit from Kmart Australia as ‘too revealing’ for her daughter.
Whitney, from Sydney, said she would never allow her child to wear the “immodest” $18 top as she shared her disapproval in a popular Facebook group.
“Okay, I’m never really one to complain, but when did Kmart start selling such revealing clothing?” she wrote.
‘I don’t want my daughter wearing this and showing her figure to the whole world. Who’s with me?’
The criticism left other shoppers confused as the True Knit Short Sleeve Elbow Top was deemed perfectly suitable for all ages.

The Kmart model wore a size 12 and the top is available from size six to size 20. The knit is also on the adult section of the Kmart website, not the children’s section.
Fellow parents quickly responded to the bizarre rant.
‘Do I miss something?’ wrote one. Another said: ‘I don’t know if this is satire or not.’
Many encouraged Whitney to turn a blind eye to products she thinks are inappropriate for her children.
“I feel like if you don’t like it, you shouldn’t buy it for her.” I like the shirt. There’s nothing wrong with it,” one person said.
‘What’s wrong with the top? Lucky Kmart has a great selection of Doona covers,” another joked.
One wrote: ‘Kmart has always sold this kind of thing. If you don’t want your daughter to wear it, don’t buy it. Your household, your rules.’
‘F*** sake! Here’s an idea! Do not buy it!’ added one more.
‘Welcome to the wide world of fashion and the pre-teen/teen years. This would be called modest compared to some they sell,” wrote another.
Earlier this week, another mother was shocked by what she found in the $10 Kmart dollhouse bathroom set she bought for her daughter.
Simone Navybox from Brisbane bought the six-piece wooden dollhouse bathroom set, which includes a shower, toilet, plunger, shower mat and a sink.
But she was surprised when she saw a small yellow scale in the pack.
“Um, I’m probably not going to teach my little girl that she needs a scale in her bathroom Kmart,” she wrote in a now-viral TikTok video.
Simone told FEMAIL she wants to make sure she teaches her daughter positive body image habits from a young age, even removing the scales from a dollhouse she plays with.
