Mum admits to strangling her seven-month-old baby after taking photos of little boy with a cord around his neck and sock stuffed in his mouth

A seven-month-old baby was strangled with a cord and strangled with a sock by his mother in an attempt to 'emotionally manipulate' his father, a court has heard.

Holly Anne Maxwell, 26, pleaded guilty in the Perth Magistrates Court on Friday to three charges of assault and one charge of obstructing breathing.

Maxwell filmed her baby with a cord pulled tight around his neck and a sock stuffed in his mouth and the images sent to his father in January.

The videos are so graphic that police “protected” prosecutors from seeing them.

Maxwell pleaded not guilty to the original charges of intent to injure and threaten to kill, but changed her plea to guilty to the new charges.

Although prosecutors could not see the material, the court heard Maxwell filmed her son with a black sock in his mouth and a cord around his neck.
