Joy Reid has suggested that Donald Trump’s grandchildren do not have a loving relationship with the former president.
The controversial MSNBC host compared Trump’s personal life to that of President Joe Biden when she claimed the Republican’s family doesn’t seem as close.
“Donald Trump has grandchildren too, but the physical interactions they had at the convention felt so cold and clinical,” Reid said Wednesday, adding, “It didn’t feel real.”
“It didn’t feel real. You really don’t see Melania.”
Reid made the statement while discussing Biden’s marriage to first lady Jill, saying, “You don’t really see Melania.”
The proximity of [the Biden] “When you’re talking about a family, it’s a different contrast to the other family that’s on the table,” Reid added.
Trump’s grandchildren took center stage at the Republican Party convention in Milwaukee last week, with his eldest granddaughter Kai even giving a speech about her relationship with the former president.
His four-year-old granddaughter Caroline also thrilled the crowd when she was seen sitting on Trump’s lap, while her older brother Eric Luke also cheered on their father Eric Trump.
Biden is known for being close to his six grandchildren, but he appears to have no bond with Hunter Biden’s 5-year-old daughter and Lunden Roberts.

Reid’s claims about the Trump family came just days after she said Black Americans could be ostracized by their communities if they don’t fall in line and vote for Kamala Harris.
The enthusiastic presenter warned black voters that they would look “very strange and lonely” if they didn’t support the “extraordinary woman of color” in November’s presidential election.
At the same time, she resumed hostilities with black model Amber Rose, who angered the left-wing spokesperson by endorsing Donald Trump at the Republican Party convention last week.
“The door has to be closed behind Amber, and she looks crazy there. But close the door behind her,” the liberal presenter told her nearly two million followers on Twitter.

But Reid’s accusatory demands quickly led to accusations of racism and angry reactions to calls for voting along racial lines.
Reid also drew ire after she listed a number of things she found “odd” about the attempted assassination of Trump in Butler, Pennsylvania, and appeared to suggest it was a staged event.
“We still don’t know for sure if Donald Trump was hit by a bullet,” she began. “We know almost nothing.”
And after President Biden tested positive for Covid days after the assassination attempt, Reid said in a broadcast that Biden’s confrontation with the virus was as heroic as Trump’s response when he narrowly dodged a bullet.
Conservative commentator Charlie Kirk was the first to criticize Reid’s comments, calling on MSNBC to “take Reid off the air” for her “outrageous, insane, libelous” theories.
