MSNBC host Rachel Maddow is reportedly furious with her Morning Joe colleagues for meeting Donald Trump after he won the presidential election.
Joe Scarborough and Mika Brzezinski visited the newly elected president just over two weeks ago at his Mar-a-Lago resort in Palm Beach, Florida, to “restart communications” and outline a “new approach” ahead of his second term.
Maddow, along with other hosts of the troubled liberal network, are calling this move by Morning Joe’s married co-hosts “opportunistic,” according to a report in The American sun.
‘The meeting at Mar-a-Lago created a lot of tension in the teams, and many other stars… see both Joe Scarborough and Mika Brzezinski as opportunistic and with very low self-esteem, forgetting their values of journalists with independence and integrity ‘, says a journalist who has worked at MSNBC for fifteen years.
Speaking on condition of anonymity, the journalist made it clear who has a problem with Morning Joe switching from calling Trump a fascist and an admirer of Adolf Hitler to having a cordial meeting with him to find out what will happen in the future to happen.
‘They have lost a lot of credibility. Rachel Maddow is mad at them, as are other hosts like Chris Hayes and Ari Melber. They are so frustrated,” the journalist said.
“It was such a stupid thing to do,” they added. “They have bent their knees to make sure they don’t become targets of Trump and the entire MAGA world.”
This comes as MSNBC is in total turmoil following Trump’s victory. The network’s viewership has taken a steep dive, Comcast is considering spinning off the cable channel and Maddow agreed to a $5 million pay cut in her new contract.
Morning Joe hosts Joe Scarborough and Mika Brzezinski have reportedly drawn the ire of their colleagues for agreeing to meet with President-elect Donald Trump.
Rachel Maddow, one of MSNBC’s top stars, is among the liberal network’s many anchors and journalists furious with Scarborough and Brzezinski
According to Brzezinski, their reason for contacting Trump was to allay the fears of their viewers who are concerned about his cabinet choices.
At that point, Trump had already selected Fox News host Pete Hegseth as Defense Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. as Secretary of Health, and former Congressman Matt Gaetz to lead the Justice Department – who later withdrew from the nomination process, paving the way. for former Florida Attorney General Pam Bondi to take his place.
Scarborough said the three “discussed many issues, including abortion, mass deportation, threats of political retaliation against political opponents and media outlets.”
Scarborough, who left the Republican Party in 2017 over Trump’s embrace, shared that they “didn’t see eye to eye on a lot of issues and we told him that.”
Insiders are reportedly concerned that this will devalue MSNBC’s reputation as a trusted anti-Trump network.
“Most of us don’t want to be part of that,” the journalist told the American Sun. “Some are thinking of joining other media organizations where we can do our work with respect and values to bring the truth to the table without being pressured by those in power.”
The backlash against the two hosts has been enormous in the weeks since the controversial meeting, with people on both sides of the aisle tearing into them.
The View’s Ana Navarro criticized the couple, accusing them of “changing their stripes” because of “who has the power” and calling the meeting “opportunistic.”
Megyn Kelly ripped Morning Joe hosts Joe Scarborough and Mika Brzezinski for hypocrisy after meeting at Mar-a-Lago to make peace with Donald Trump
Scarborough and Brzezinski initially dismissed the criticism, saying it showed there is a “huge gap” between “social media and the real world.”
On the MAGA side, Megyn Kelly responded much more sternly, saying on her show, “I was looking for a way to respond appropriately, and I called on my ten years as a litigator, in addition to my now twenty years as a journalist, and I think that I have found the perfect sentence: Go f*** yourself.’
“Go fuck yourself. Go damn you dishonest jokes from fake journalists. What an absurd farce… Which one was insincere? He’s Hitler? Or are we now going to speak the truth to those in power and find a way to talk and work with Donald Trump? Which one was a lie?’
Scarborough and Brzezinski initially dismissed the criticism, saying it showed there is a “huge gap” between “social media and the real world.”
Still, Morning Joe suffered a huge dip in ratings after the Trump rally.
There are also rumors that the pair worked with Trump for more nefarious reasons.
This is what an anonymous source says Puck news that they feared that the incoming president would have allowed Gaetz as attorney general to investigate conspiracy theories surrounding the 2001 death of Scarborough’s intern while he was a Republican congressman in Florida.
An autopsy found that Lori Bolterstein Klausutis, 28, hit her head on a desk after collapsing from an undiagnosed heart valve irregularity, but Trump called for a new investigation into the matter.
Sources said CNN that since Trump has been feuding with the Morning Joe hosts for years, they met with him to hopefully quell his rhetoric against them.
Donald Trump has been feuding with the Morning Joe hosts for years, despite having a warm relationship with them when he first ran for president in 2016.
Despite developing a warm media relationship when Trump first ran for president in 2016, Brzezinski and Scarborough fell out with him after he shocked the world and defeated failed presidential candidate Hillary Clinton.
Scarborough and Brzezinski quickly became highly critical of Trump’s presidency after he entered the White House and repeatedly condemned him on their morning news program.
Brzezinski in particular repeatedly criticized Trump for being “mentally ill” and speculated about his need to see a psychiatrist.
In June 2017, Trump fired back at the couple on social media, recalling how “Crazy Mika with a low IQ, along with Psycho Joe” came to Mar-a-Lago three nights in a row on New Year’s Eve and was desperate to spend time with him.
