MSNBC anchor Nicolle Wallace, 51, becomes a mom for the second time after announcing the birth of a baby girl via surrogate
MSNBC host Nicolle Wallace has even more to be thankful for this year: She and her husband, Michael S. Schmidt, welcomed a baby girl.
The Deadline: MSNBC White House anchor, 51, announced the arrival of Isabella Sloane Schmidt via surrogate in a segment on Tuesday’s show.
“Viewers of the program probably noticed that Nicolle was missing from this seat this past week,” anchorwoman Alicia Menendez said at the beginning of the segment.
She then welcomed Nicolle back via phone call, where the host explained where she’d been for the past week – getting to know her newest and smallest family member – along with her 40-year-old husband and 11-year-old… old son.

Nicolle, who shares an 11-year-old son, Liam, with her former husband, Mark Wallace, spoke out about becoming a mother for the second time at the age of 51
“I haven’t looked at my phone in a week and I’m amazed at the theories out there,” she said as Menendez laughed.
“I understand why so many people ruled out the truth that Mike and I had a baby. Her name is Isabella Sloane Schmidt, and Mike, Liam and I are completely in love with her.”
Nicolle also joked, “Our dogs are still judging.”
The journalist has been married to Michael Schmidt, investigative journalist for the New York Times, since April 2022. The couple met in 2019 when he was a guest on her show.
The mother of two was married to former husband Mark Wallace, a former diplomat and lawyer, from 2005 to 2019. The ex-couple share one son, 11-year-old Liam.
The TV host spoke about becoming a mother again, admitting that there were “pros and cons to being a mother again at 51,” and there have been some adjustments.
“You’re tired,” she admitted. ‘I was up all night last night thinking, “Oh wow. Yeah, this is what 3:45 looks like.”‘
The political commentator praised Liam for the way he is dealing with being a big brother for the first time.
“He just has a knack for the scepter and the ‘shh,’” Nicolle said. “You know, all the things you do wherever you are when you have a baby.”
And the movement seems contagious, with the new mum saying she’s reeling even without baby Izzy in her arms.
The political correspondent said there are ‘pros and cons to being a mother again at 51’, although she will be back to work soon

Nicolle said her newborn is sleeping and eating perfectly, even though they are taking their days “hour by hour,” with no big plans for Thanksgiving.
“We kind of huddled together,” she shared. “We’ll have a little Thanksgiving family and maybe see the parade.
However, the TV presenter assured viewers that she will be back behind the desk soon.
“This show is my other family and I would never leave,” she told Alicia: “I am so lucky and so grateful that (you) are guiding these hours while I take a few months to hang out with Izzy .’
