Angela Rayner is being urged to give swift approval to Marks & Spencer’s controversial plans to demolish its flagship store on Oxford Street.
The deputy prime minister is reviewing plans that were blocked by the previous government, but after legal proceedings, the decision was overturned.
M&S wants to demolish the 1929 Art Deco building at Marble Arch in London and build a larger 10-storey retail and office building.

Sacha Berendji, M&S chief operating officer, said: ‘By releasing this investment we are sending a clear signal that the planning system supports sustainable growth.’
However, several architects, including TV presenter Kevin McCloud, are against the plan.
