Mozilla has announced a privacy pack for its Firefox browser that bundles two of its most important security tools for a pretty healthy time saver for Black Friday.
The package consists of two products, starting with Firefox Relay. Mozilla claims to have received thousands of sign-ups since its low-key launch in 2020, which prevented 1.5 million junk emails from reaching its users’ inboxes.
The company now hopes to protect more internet shoppers who lose their sensitive information at the checkout.
Mozilla VPN and Firefox Relay
Relay works by creating up to five email masks to hide your real email address when filling out online forms in its free guise. Mozilla also increased the email limit to 10 MB in 2022 and created a Chrome extension in response to customer demand.
Premium users get unlimited email masks and phone number masking, which works the same way.
The second product included in the deal is Mozilla VPN. It works just like any other VPN to hide your IP address and keep your information safe, and there’s even an option to use two VPNs at the same time (called multi-hop) for extra protection.
There is no official name for the duo, but users can sign up through the Mozilla VPN page (opens in new tab) or the Firefox Relay page (opens in new tab) for $6.99 per month when purchased with an annual subscription.
This combination should appeal to users who not only want to protect their data, but also value an easy solution under one roof. Currently paid iCloud+ subscriptions (opens in new tab) (starting at $0.99 per month) come with a similar Hide My Email feature, but lack phone number masking. The iCloud Private Relay works similarly to a VPN, but is fundamentally different.
Google One subscriptions (opens in new tab) do get a VPN connection, though this is only the top plan that comes with 2TB of storage, costs $9.99 a month, and it’s only available as a mobile app. However, all plans do not have email masking functionality.
