Movie fans go nuts for ‘unrecognizable’ Hugh Grant in trailer for Mormon horror film Heretic
Movie fans are going crazy over Hugh Grant’s seemingly unrecognizable transformation in the trailer for the upcoming horror film Heretic.
British star Hugh Grant wore a button-down shirt, sweater and large glasses as he spoke to two Mormon women in his home and later locked them in.
The two women, Sister Barnes (Sophie Thatcher) and Sister Paxton (Chloe East), were lured into the new thriller by a seemingly friendly Mr. Reed.
Many film buffs who will see Grant’s chilling performance in theaters on November 15 have said the actor has become almost unrecognizable after switching from “good” roles to villainous ones.
“Hugh Grant’s turn to villainous roles over the past few years (at least in terms of the roles he’s taken) has been very inspiring,” said one X user wrote.

Grant plays Mr. Reed, a seemingly friendly man who talks to two Mormon women about religion before locking them in his home.
Grant won the hearts of film lovers with his performances in films such as Notting Hill, Four Weddings and a Funeral and Bridget Jones’ Diary.
However, his antagonistic roles are starting to surprise social media users.
βI wonder if he’s just really good at it, or if it’s something where our collective expectation of who he is in the movie makes his villains seem creepier,β one Reddit user wrote in June.
One of his villain roles that Reddit and X users talked about was that of Forge Fitzwilliam, a con artist in Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves.

“This looks interesting and promising. Hugh Grant as an antagonist in a horror film is great,” an X-user tweeted.
Another person referred to his appearance as a man in ‘his grumpy era on steroids’, and an X user wrote that he ‘made the face‘ in the movie trailer.

Reddit users were also impressed with Grant’s antagonistic performance.
“This sounds amazing. I’m sure Hugh Grant will play a total idiot,” one Reddit user wrote in a June message.
Someone else wrote: ‘I think he loves playing bad guys and he does it brilliantly.’
Others have begun making predictions about what will happen to Grant’s character and whether moviegoers will see his so-called wife.

YouTubers at least found Grant’s portrayal “fun”, while others were shocked to see how bad the actor can be in a movie.
