Moussa Diaby saves the day for tearful young Aston Villa fan as French star gives him his shirt after banner asking for it gets confiscated
Aston Villa’s Moussa Diaby saved the day for a tearful young fan on Thursday evening after the boy’s handmade banner asking for the striker’s shirt was confiscated.
Before Villa played AZ Alkmaar in the Europa Conference League, a young fan hung a beautiful handmade sign near the touchline asking for the French winger’s shirt.
Due to a new rule in Dutch football, where stadiums ban fans from bringing in signs asking players for shirts, a steward walked up to the boy and took away the banner.
Left in tears, he was comforted by another steward as the plate was subsequently thrown in the bin.
But in a heart-warming gesture, the Birmingham club made sure the fan got his wish, with Diaby giving him a hug at the whistle and his shirt.
