Mount Pritchard police investigation after dead body is found in south-west Sydney

The body of a man has been found in the middle of a street in a south-west Sydney suburb.

Emergency services were called to the intersection of Pritchard Street and Hemphill Avenue in Mount Pritchard at around 3am on Wednesday, where a man was found with significant injuries.

The man was pronounced dead at the scene, despite paramedics’ desperate attempts to save him.

Police and forensic officers remain at the closed intersection, which has been declared a crime scene.

Detectives went door to door interviewing residents who may have seen or heard something.

Police understand that the man may have been hit by a car.

It is unclear how long the man’s body was there.

He has yet to be formally identified.

Police are calling on witnesses or people with information about the incident to come forward and help with the investigation.
